Thought it was going to be a good thing… getting to my 2 year mark at Home Depot and FINALLY getting the raise I deserve from going from cashier to a kitchen designer (didn’t get a raise when I got promoted, but got all kinds of amazing kudos since I skipped 2 whole positions to get where I am (kit dept accociate & kit dept head) and was PROMISED up and down a raise I never got) So now that I have the next year under my belt, it’s monetary review time right? HAH! Yea right! I can’t believe this place. I’m still a getting cashier rate for a kitchen designer job! This is ridiculous!
The other designer makes like $7.00 more an hour then I do and she only has one year more experience then me. I spend ALL DAY cleaning up HER mistakes since she leaves early & arrives late whenever she pleases and leaves me with all the grunt work since she has seniority over me. I asked to AT LEAST get $15 an hour (she gets about $20) so I would still be WAY under her and I got a big reality slap that the economy is just too bad right now to be throwing several dollar raises out at people. So you know what I got? Not a dollar, not even 50 cents. I got 7 cents! 7 freaking cents on an AWESOME “Performing Above Expectations” review! WTF!?! God I just wanted to just stuff that paper down my managers throat, spit in his face, and walk out of this place for good! Ever since Shaun got fired I’ve had to work overtime and suck up as much as I can stomach.
Shaun needs to job like NOW! I’m about ready to throw him out of the house. I’m so sick of this. *piss, moan*
Sorry to vent… I promised myself I’d stop venting via forum, but I’m ready to quit this damn job and just say “f*ck it! I don’t care anymore” 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄

Sun Dragon Koi #3Okay now that I’ve laughed that is the biggest load of BS I have ever heard. But be careful, I read the HD was one of several companies that was reducing their payroll by firing people and not rehiring. You NEED this job right now, even if it sucks…badly. I can relate to being frustrated w/ Shaun when my roommate lost her job several years ago I wanted to push her out door so she could find one. It took about 6 months and that was in a better economy. We love you and you can certainly vent about something like THAT. It was way unfair. *hugs*

Sun Dragon Koi #3I’m sorry that happened to you.. . That is very unfair. 🙁 I experienced the same sort of thing when I was working for a Big Chain pet store. I worked there for three years, and was promoted to ‘team lead’ though in reality they had me doing all of the department manager’s work since we HAD no department manager. So I essentially was making minimum wage as a manager. When I finally got my 3 year review, I got a perfect score on everything. Oh boy, I thought. My loyalty and hard work and ass-busting for these people is gonna pay off! Working through my breaks and overtime without pay, surely that shows how dedicated and hard working I am (this is illegal BTW and if I had wanted to I could have gotten them in legal trouble over this). Yeah. I got a $0.05 raise. That’s a NICKEL. I made exactly $5.80 an hour to be a manager after working there for 3 years (at the time min wage in TX was $5.75).

I’ve got no job now, still working on trying to wring out the near-$2000 my old boss STILL owes me in wages, and refuses to pay. Sorry you’re having so much trouble Dragon feathers. That is extremely unfair. Take this as you will because I’m not sure it’s the best advice, more just an observation I’d rather not acknowledge. But more and more I’m coming to grips with the fact that ONLY a****les and b****es move up in the corporate world. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. The wagon who runs everyone over gets EVERYTHING. Clearly they don’t intend to reward your hard work and loyalty with a raise; they’re fine with the other kitchen designer’s shenanigans. I agree about not being marked as “troublesome” but the deal you’re getting is raw.
Maybe in lieu of a raise, you can negotiate for perks that don’t cost the company immediate money, like extra benefits or vacation time.

Major (((hugs))) drag0n! The corporate world sucks. :negative: You need to vent. You can’t keep that stuffed inside, you’ll go insane! It seems very few companies know how to take care of their employees.
With my job, I am trying to force myself NOT to go above and beyond. I’m not doing anyone else’s work anymore. Why? Because I don’t get anything out of it but stress. I’ve been at my job for 12 years (3 part-time, 9 full-time). We are currently restructuring, and I am getting more and more crap put on me… because they know I’ll do it. And I won’t be compensated for it, because I am OUT of raises. Yeah, I have so much to look forward too…
1- Today was the first day of summer camp… I have two months of hell left. Oh, goody…
2- Found that the weekend staff took it upon themselves to cut the starling’s wings WITHOUT my consent. We had cut them to where she had some primaries and secondaries to give the illusion of full wings. THEY BUTCHERED HER WINGS!! She has nothing! Nothing for her to soften her landing should she fall off her perch or handler. She can easily break a bone now. And she knows it. She is traumatized. She is not singing, (and more disturbing) she is not squawking for attention. She must have went (and is still going) through mental birdy torture. I can not stand it when an animal suffers, either physically or mentally, especially when they are under my care. I am beyond IRATE that they did not consult me. I am livid! I had such a wonderful day at work today! 😡Sorry… that was my rant. 😳
