I apologize if this question is a little numb 😳 , but I was wondering about the legal issues pertaining to ‘retired’ sculpts and colors. I guess the plain and short is can you re-issue something you have retired. Once something is proclaimed ‘retired’, is it still legal for you to ever produce that item for sale again?

It isn’t illegal, but it would be unethical. We are honest, and do not re-issue a “retired” piece. This means a particular mold in a particular color that has been retired. For example; we will never re-issue the Male dragon in old brown. However, we probably would issue new dragon sculpts in “Old Brown”, since they would have never been painted in that color before.
Also, I am painting some orignal castings we discovered of the old line of Windstone animals. These old cats, pigs, owls, dogs etc. may be painted in a way similar to the originals, but they will be distinguished from the very rare originals because they will have a felt pad ( the originals didn’t) and they will be signed by me.

Since they are a small company, they have control over what goes out and what doesn’t. Also, I like to think they would not want to de-value original retired pieces (ex: Brown Emperors) by re-issuing them. Three times, Windstone has sold retired pieces in their store,(Rainbow Emperor, Ruby Emperor, and Ruby Rising Spectral) although they were at a premium price when compared to the original sale price. I like to think too, that extremely rare items or even just rare items will not ever be re-issued (ex: White coiled mammas)
But they can paint new sculpts in old colors (Old Green Fledgie, Old Green Curlie, Brown OW, etc.) that they were never issued in.

I guess I need to clarify that … we won’t paint more identical pieces after they have been retired, but we will continue to sell the old ones until they run out…and we sometimes find old inventory (we are so organized ) that we didn’t know we had. 😯 fuck what do you see? PLLLLLeassse?is it the rainbow scratchers? there’s some brown ones in there too…but I havent been window shopping in a while! 😆
Is it the silver emp? He’s sure a stunner, but I can’t remember if I’ve seen him before or not.
