You have a huge Windstone collection…..what was your first Windstone? (you may have already posted this somewhere else, but I’m too lazy to look for it.) π
October 11, 2008 at 1:55 am #496843October 16, 2008 at 5:43 am #735858My first WIndstone? That would have to be the mother dragon in peacock. Gramma got her for me, and I was hooked from there. π
Ofcourse for years I only knew of a couple places that sold them (Baker St. formerly known as The Tobacco Bowl, and Wicks-n-Sticks, who have long ago went out of business) then aobut 6 years ago I Found a really nice pagan lady who sold them, and would give me pretty good deals, do layaway, etc. I got both dragon bookends from her for $25 each plus tax(One had a chip about 1/4″ on the front lower corner). I also got the black, white, and emerald small wizards from her long after they retired (Each for jsut under $50). Last I knew her father wasn’t doing so well, and then the shop was just gone. π Which leaves only Baker St. left, and they never carry anything. Plus now, with the loss of my license, I never can make it down there. π Maybe once December comes along. Plus I have an interview up town, and I can walk to work then. π I gotta try to save for those 3 curlies I don’t have yet…If there is one production line I really want to keep up with (I have to admit there are two) it’s the curlies and the Fledgies. So far the only fledgie I am missing is peacock… π (Not including special schemes by Jen or Melody or Olympia…Has Olympia painted fldglings yet?) But, I missed the lavender, and blue pearl curlies, oh and Rainbow.
If I had to pick a favorite sculpt of the western dragons, it would be the Lap for bigger, and the Fledgies for the smaller.
I love the large flapcats and missed out on the white ones like that…I wanted a blue and gold eyed one like my childhood cat Puff, she was so sweet. π
If I had to pick a non-Melody peice that is my favorite, it has to be Castle of the Hawks. I literally cried when I got mine after 3 to 4 years of searching endlessly and seeing only a couple on ebay.
My all time favorite is the Oriental Suns…I would give my left eye to be able to afford one of the beautiful ones that have been flying through ebay, but they are sure pretty to look at. I wish they hadn’t retired them…
I have only two really big huge squeaks and those are for the Wizard’s House and Lion Ki-Rin to go to production one day. I can maybe then get one from Emerald and do layaway…Those are my dream sculpts I guess you could say. Although I hope also one day to own an SK too, the Gold ones are particularly striking to me. But most likely they will be retired long before I can afford one. π
My least favorite sculpt…(I have two of these, but one is much more bleg than the other. Sorry Melody, but I guess we all can’t like everyone, or there wouldn’t ever be anything in the store!) The Mother COiled dragon is my absolute least favorite. I had one in peacock, but it has been the only sculpt I have EVER sold. I have gifted a couple that I had 2 of. The second, is the Emporer…I still have my two, a White and an Old Green. My old green is my pride along with my BEP OW. They have highest shelves and are far from kid and cat related possible accidents.
One day I hope to have my collection accepted for donation to an art museum. πOctober 16, 2008 at 9:08 am #735859You’re going to donate your collection? Not have it buried with you? π
Just kidding.
You’re missing the peacock fledge? Mine is for sale. Mint with tag and box… π I know, I’m being mean. Sorry.October 16, 2008 at 8:05 pm #735860Couldn’t you see the size of that coffin?!?! π― No, actually I plan to be cremated. π

October 17, 2008 at 4:17 am #735862Gee guys…Thanks alot! π π
October 17, 2008 at 4:29 am #735863hehe… the windstones could be made to create the coffin, either piecemeal or crushed down π I can see it now… all the little fledgie faces sticking up off the lid, staring at people. π
The eyes… the eyes!!!!
October 17, 2008 at 5:06 am #735864Ugh! If that weren’t a scary thought per so, siberakh, just think of how many lovely – and expensive – Windstones would be lost that way! π― π
October 17, 2008 at 1:17 pm #735865The coffin thought makes me cringe…
Yeah…I don’t think I could destroy them for a coffin…And I don’t want to be buried simply cuz I know Glen wouldn’t bury even 1 with me anyway. He looks at my collection with dollar signs in his eyes. Anything he can make money off of, he would sell. π
Here’s a prime example…In 3rd grade he and his friend had this huge idea on how to make money. For Glen’s birthday he got $35, and spent it all on bite-sized candies. Yes, $35 in candy, which when we found it was enough to fill an 15″x24″x8″ drawer in his chest of drawers. π― They planned to take it to school and charge kids a quarter a piece for it, making Glen’s money atleast double or triple in amount. He has always been a little bit on track with Donald Trump, but more along the lines of the “Get rich quick” routine. It was a sound idea, he just can’t keep secrets very good, and has always had friends who rat him out to keep their own butts out of the fire. π π πOctober 17, 2008 at 3:25 pm #735866Greater Basilisk wrote:Ugh! Indeed! π― (sorry it’s almost Halloween and I didn’t get to decorate this year *bah* and all I could think of was legions of fledgie faces, like wide-eyed zombies, or mischievous tricker treaters… hehe…). I know my mom would keep a couple of windstones, possibly give one or two away, but everything else would probably end up on ebay, in an estate, on the forum, or something. I know she wouldn’t chuck them at least. She’s has a better clue of their value than my dad, though I think he suspects. My brother on the other hand… same as your Glen, WindstoneCollector. Get rich quick schemes.

Sounds like a very practical-minded fellow, WSC. π
October 19, 2008 at 2:23 am #735869The thing is, he wouldn’t do anything that showed with the money either. LOL He would just blow it on something that would be gone in a matter of days. π
October 19, 2008 at 4:05 am #735870Oh. That’s not so practical. π π
