Besides painting, what do you enjoy doing for fun?
October 5, 2008 at 11:41 pm #496774October 6, 2008 at 12:31 pm #735061Fun…Hmmm. What’s that? π Just kidding. π
Besides painting, I do alot of reading. Not magazine reading, although I do get a couple cooking magazines. I read anything by Stephen King, Dean Koontz, John Saul, and the Alex Cross series by James Patterson. I’m not a big non-fiction reader.
I like to fish, camp, hike, and walk.
I also collect antique hurricane lamps.
I draw alot. Even if it’s doodling while I am on the phone. π
Otherwise, I have a pretty boring life. π―October 6, 2008 at 6:50 pm #735062What are hurricane lamps?
Cus there’s gonna be a lot of hurricane lamps this year with all the hurricanes and all….. π―
October 6, 2008 at 8:27 pm #735063Hurricane lamps are those windproof/waterproof lamps that sailors and the such used back in the day, yes? No? I’m way off?
October 6, 2008 at 9:14 pm #735064LOL! Hurricane lamps cover a wide range of lamps. From the old train style that burn oil to the newer ones. I collect all of them. But my favorites are the dual lighted table lamp forms…
That is the type I mainly collect…I do have some of the oil ones too. I also have an extensive collection of fancy oil lamps. They have come in handy nore than once when the power went out. If you burn oil lamps when you have no heat, they can warm a 900 sqft apartment with the use of 5 lamps. Dave and I did this while the power was out for 3 days. Everyone else in the building left, we got to stay and boy was it peaceful! π
October 6, 2008 at 11:09 pm #735065Do you have any lamps that are old/vintage carnival glass? I’ve always loved those…

October 6, 2008 at 11:58 pm #735066I have an old milk glass one. And a couple pendant lamps. I also have 2 stained glass swag lamps like you would see in a bar/pizza parlor…But no carnival glass. My hurricanes I have are green, cobalt blue, ruby and amber colors. I did however buy a lamp that the man at the antique store told me that it was the ugliest damned lamp he ever saw and I wasn’t allowed to EVER bring it back…I still have it, have since rewired it, and use it daily. I love it! π
