I am depressed…and pissed off. Last night after having an awesome day, and watching a movie….We find a hole in one of our cat’s necks. Cosmo. At first we were puzzled, and thought, “bite?” Did something bite him? Then, while looking further, we saw it wasnt looking the way a bite should, and I started feeling sick to my stomach. Someone had been shooting at our cat for fun. You have to realize that around here, it’s a pretty common recreational thing for young boys to shoot anything that moves with a pellet or bb gun. And….worse yet, if it is in their yard, there’s not a damn thing you can do about it. If you try and prosecute, or complain….you can just be sure that the next time…your cat or dog wont return home. There’s too many folks here that just feel that if it’s in their yard….they can shoot it. That’s just the way it is. This has always been the way I’ve known things to be. I’ve always had a huge distaste for people in general, and this has been a feeding point of it for a long while…..Chris lost nearly all his pets from his youth this way…they wander into someone elses yard and never return. I lost many the same way. Koishii informs me that it’s a regional thing…and in other areas of the world…this sort of crap isnt tolerated the way it is here.

Cosmo is a sweet cat…but has the obsession of sneaking between someone’s legs to get outside. This happened yesterday. He’ll roam around for an hour or two, then come sit on our porch, waiting to be let back in. We checked the wound carefully, found both the entry and exit points of the pellet, and thankfully there seems to be no debris or other stuffs lodged in there. We plan to clean and watch it carefully, and if it shows any swelling or signs of infection, he’ll be taken to the vet….but for now it seems to be a clean wound, easily monitered and cared for. It is frightening to see this sort of thing on his neck…..right under his facial area…he came so close to dying, all for some a–hole’s fun.

Yeah. It is amazing how many cat haters there are out there. There has been some of that around here too. The best part around here, you just get even. 😆 Sometimes it takes a while for you to find out who it is, and a bit more time to pay them back, but if you get the chance, you do it. Scott lets Sugar out, but my cats stay in. Infact they are so darned spoiled rotten they don’t really want to go outside. Sugar has come home a couple times with issues from mean people. Scott also has a dog, and I know who the people are who do these things. I take Megan for a walk and let her crap in their yards. 😈 I am evil. But unless her poop hurts them, then there is nothing they can do about it besides clean it up. 😛 (Usually I hope for them to step in it.)
On the other hand, my ex brother-in-law’s ex wife threw his cat out of the 3rd story window and he landed on top of a chainlink fence. There was no cap on the pole, and he ended up with a huge hole in him. Jason spent countless money getting that cat doctored up and the cat still lives, happy and content, and Jay got full custody of both of the kids because she was stupid enough to wound a cat. Good judge :D…Stupid woman. 🙄

I hope everything works out for your kitty and he lives a long and happy life with you! 😀

That just makes me sick to my stomach. I really hope it heals well, and I am so glad that Cosmos didn’t get killed. Poor PC and Cosmos. 🙁

thank you…..it’s just that some people’s attitudes depress me greatly. This was most likely some young boys having target practice…it’s common for kids to act that way around here, sadly. We do keep Cosmo in, but he does slip out occasionally…sigh. 🙁

Come move to Idaho with us… Gratefully we haven’t got the shooting domestic animal problem (except for a few cows 🙄 ) The dad’s around here are more likely to shoot the kids for shooting non-huntable animals. It’s not something that is put up with here, thank goodness!!! Hugs for you and Cosmo!

That is horrible. Some people are just sick!! 😡

That’s horrible! I hope Cosmo’s neck doesn’t get infected or that.

I won’t mention what I want to do to people that think doing stuff like that to animals is fun – it is a public forum after all. 😈

People are F***ING SICK!!! I HATE PEOPLE like that with the passion of unimaginable and immeasurable intolerance!!! I’m so sorry you were a victim of some sick person’s crime like that purplecat. I’m even more sorry for your poor cat.

Last week someone in my neighboring town was arrested because he beat his girlfriend’s cat with a frying pan for knocking over a computer monitor.

I hope Cosmo makes a full recovery and who ever did that awful thing gets disemboweled by angry wolverines 👿

We’re keeping a close eye on his wound…just to make sure it stays clean, and doesnt get inflamed. He seems to be ok, though I’ll definately keep you guys updated to any changes. 🙂

Purplecat, I don’t want to get you upset or anything but you might want to take him to the vet
only because 13 years ago I was feeding this wild kitten outside and noticed that it had a hole
in his neck. I thought someone shot him with a bb gun or pellet gun, I caught him and took
him to my vet to make sure it wouldn’t cause any problems or get infected. The vet examined
him and got tweezers and pulled out what he called a worble, it looked like a magot. He said
that flies lay one now and then, especially if they are outside in the heat. But if I didn’t catch
him and bring him in he wouldn’t be with me today, he is now 13 yrs old and has not been
outside since. That doesn’t mean he has one but I would have it checked out because it
could still maybe get infected if it is a bb.

the reason we are sure it is a bb is because the day before he had nothing. we gave him a bath you see and he got handles all over. the wound he has now, well there are actualy two. a large one where it exited and a small one where it enter, right in a line of eachother. it also was very fresh when we found it.

but i had no idea flies did that! that is good info to know and watch out for!
