….. again. Bah this is the second time my computer has completely crashed… only this time I wasn’t on summer vacay… dammit I have a lab report due tomorrow…. *whine*
I wonder how much it will be to fix. Or if it’ll even be worth it… I may just junk it and buy a vista compatable printer and just hook it up when I need it. Then get a desktop when it’s affordable. Since I don’t have recovery disks… I can’t reboot from disk, and the thing won’t even turn on anymore. It goes halfway though the startup and then restarts… goes halfway then restarts… etc, etc, etc…. good thing I bought the laptop… I at least HAVE a computer!!! But I can’t print my lab due tomorrow…. 👿 My roomie is printing it off at his dad’s though – so hopefully that works today and tomorrow (I have another lab due on Thursday).

Still cheaper then a new computer. But the thing has marvelous timing.
September 10, 2008 at 1:53 am #732262I can’t print from home, so I send my reports/essays/papers to my email and print it out at school. 10 cents a page in the library, or free in the spanish lab if I can get in without being asked if I’m actually taking spanish… >.>
I have a printer, but it works when it feels like it -_- which is usually not when I have homework due.

This is exactly what happened to my laptop the moment I dared to download Windows XP Service Pack 3. I had to boot it up in safe mode and change my settings back. It still isn’t working properly though because it takes my computer 20 minutes after boot up to allow me online.
September 10, 2008 at 2:37 am #732264when i was in school we were allowed to bring in disks and turn them in or print them in class from our disks in English class (of course we always printed all our other stuff there to and the professor never minded) Of course giving away disks got expensive and the teacher ended up with a stash of disks that she didnt have to buy

My old laptop did that with SP2. I never did get SP2 to work on it, and now I have Vista, which is worse. 😕

Unfortunately, the room that has a printer isn’t open until 8:15… the time my lab is due. Well, it got printed off…

I’m so glad I avoided that update last week. 😯 Too paranoid, and I figured it was safer to wait until my employer went ahead and installed it. They double-check and test everything to exhaustion before installing any patches. 😆
I hope you’re able to get it behaving right again!
September 10, 2008 at 11:44 pm #732268Ahh one of the many reasons to have a Mac, they dont crash, sorry to hear about your comp though, that sucks.

Well, this isn’t true. My brother’s crashed. However, Apple did fix his computer no charge to him. Microsoft just leaves you to figure out how to fix the problem they created on your own.
September 11, 2008 at 2:31 am #732270WOW none of ours have crashed, one had the monitor die, it was like 3 years old already and Apple fixed it for free, upgraded to the newest OSX and gave it more memory, all at no charge.
My friends son dumped a glass of water into hers and they fixed that as well, LOL, again I love my MAC.
September 11, 2008 at 8:33 am #732271(Disclaimer: I work in tech support.)
I use allsorts at home, and support Windows at work. We’ve rolled XPSP3 and have had no problems in the workplace so far. Vista… I have mixed feelings, but I’m running it on my gaming rig and it’s fine.
Supporting Windows at work is the reason I try to avoid it at home, gaming excepted. I have a Macbook Pro and I love it.
September 11, 2008 at 1:04 pm #732272I would have bought a mac for my laptop, but, the cheapest mac you can buy is over $1000… this one was $500… and the other one was before mac became popular…. lol It’s about 3 years old (three year warranty just expired).
September 11, 2008 at 4:29 pm #732273I know GE isn’t moving to Vista anytime soon (all the computers come with it and get reformatted upon arrival). They also had everyone install Open Office a few months back, to use instead of Windows Office.
There are times I enjoy my Ubuntu box at work over the windows one!
