We have a shredder and the thing needs to be oiled once in a while. However, it seems that some oils are very flammable (duh) and when you shoot the shredding “claws” while they rotate, they apparently can create a spark and light the fumes.
I was reading posts on Warp10’s computer while he was doing just that, when a big whoosh! went up behind me. Result: my hubby no longer has hair on his knees and top of the lower legs, and on his forearms.
Oh, and he stinks too.
I think I need to up the fire insurance on the house!

Har, yeah, you’re also not supposed to spray canned air into them for the same reason. There is special synthetic shredder oil that is non-flammable, I think a 16oz bottle cost me $8 and it lasts a long time.
