Danny and I were sitting at our computers when I notices a very strong mold smell. I asked Danny if he smelled it too and he said yes. So we go downstairs and its much much stronger. He starts to check around all the pipes and anything where mold might be and I call my dad since I’m at a loss for what could be causing it but I’m worried about Alyssa and Danny’s health. So my dad comes over and we look all over the house and can’t find the smell. When we came home from the convention today we saw a vole in the kitchen that Hobo was trying to kill but it ran in the living room and under the sofa. Well turns out voles have a very strong musk smell when you upset them and it smells just like mold. Sooo this little tiny mouse like creature had me all worked up thinking “OMG we have a major mold problem”. We actually tore out some of the wall in the downstairs bathroom because we thought the pipe behind it might be leaking. Stupid voles!
August 17, 2008 at 2:34 am #728336😯 😯 😯 I’m glad it wasn’t mold, but ‘ouch’ on the hole in the wall… Did Hobo manage to catch the vole?

August 17, 2008 at 2:39 am #728337No Danny beat him to it. He was to busy trying to make friends with it plus the fact that he has soft paw nail caps on his claws didn’t help.
August 17, 2008 at 2:42 am #728338Loki and Pixel have just decided to make Danny an ‘honorary cat’ for catching the vole 😆 They catch all sorts of things; I hate it when they bring something live into the house and let it go. Last week it was a chipmunk that ran into the front coat closet and hid in the toe of Ethan’s snow boot 😯

*snerk* I had a mouse in one of my previous apartments and neither one of the cats knew what to do with it. The oldest cat would chase it around, trilling in spurts, and the youngest was oblivious until they cornered it.
Then they both sat there, and stared at it, for hours. I think the poor thing finally died of fright, because my cats sure didn’t kill it.
So Danny has a one up on my cats.
August 17, 2008 at 4:30 pm #728343If we were closer, I’d be glad to lend you my hunters…
Rosie: 1 mouse
2 squirrels
6 bunnies
1 bird (all I found of that was a foot!)
1 chipmunkNessie: Rounds them up to Rosie for the finish.
And those are the dogs. I don’t think the cats would have a clue, except maybe Skitter who was a feral…
August 17, 2008 at 4:31 pm #728344I always had mice in my house in Valleyview… we just ignored them and let the cats do the work.
Ah the marvelous things that think they can take residence in your house when you live in front of a field (if we were any closer to the edge of town at the time, we would have been out of it). Spiders, mice, well not much else up here, but the coyotes kept wandering up to our fence… I think they knew that there were mice there… 😆
August 17, 2008 at 6:22 pm #728345Mouser does the catching and killing (no eating though) and PC just watches and provides shelter for the mouse that Mouser is going after. I had to take pictures of it all because it was just too funny…
A big 14.9 lb cat scared of a mouse… LOL
Glad that you found out what the smell is and sorry that the little voles are getting into your house.
August 17, 2008 at 6:50 pm #728346Hail the conquering hero Necron!!! Sorry about the hole in the wall, but at least you caught the little stinker (pun fully intended lol)!
