.. the doorbell rings. This is normal, as there are 5 people here we get stuff all the time. Mom just had her first new piece of furniture in over 18 years delivered today (bless her heart) so there has been activity at the door all day.

But, this time it was the UPS guy. He’s got some sort of giant box and I am thinking “oh geez, what did my sister get now?”

Only, it’s for ME. So I peer at the label, and see it’s from Astral Castle. WTF? I think… did something come to me by mistake? My mom is asking me what on earth it is and I don’t have an answer. She and I tried to figure out what the note said on the front (no offense Dave ) but could only make out “Blackdesertwind”. Oh crap, I’m thinking. Something for her accidentally came to me?!

I gingerly opened it to see if there was a note inside. There was! I opened it and my heart melted to see that it was a gift FOR me from all of you guys!! Wow, you guys!! I totally never would have expected it!

Now that I know it’s not a mistake, my mom and I are very gingerly start unpacking it. I notice packing peanuts and spend the next 30 minutes caaaarefully cutting tape to keep from spilling them all over my mom’s kitchen floor.

I get it all opened and start pulling a frame out (I’m thinking, what on earth??) when the bottom falls out and peanuts explode all over the kitchen.
      Literally explode.
Over the entire surface area of the kitchen.

Mom and I were laughing SO HARD I cried. I ran up to get my camera to take a photo of the carnage but by the time I had come back, my mother put them all in one pile…

Finally I get the frame unwrapped and it is a lovely framed print of one of Melody’s dragon drawings! The one I had wanted since I was a child! I am really touched you guys, thank you so much. I don’t go into it here very much but live has been kicking my butt lately and I’ve been really down, so this was hugely unexpected and appreciated!

I literally have no place to put it but it will be lovingly wrapped back up until I get a place to live (hopefully soon!).

      Much love!

None taken. I know that I really should avoid writing by hand. I can’t even make the claim that I’m the only one who can read my writing, because once I’ve forgotten what I wrote (15 minutes), I can’t read it either.

Sorry about the peanuts and the multiple layers of cardboard. I packed it really well in the hope that it would thereby withstand having a UPS employee drop it.

What amused me was that when the UPS driver came to collect it, he had his cell-phone to his ear with one hand, and the package in the other hand, and he tried to close the door behind him with his foot. This didn’t work, but it unbalanced him and he dropped the package right there on the concrete floor. I thought to myself, “So much for me writing ‘GLASS’ in big letters on the front and back of the package.”

Of course, thinking about it now, that was probably my mistake: I wrote it by hand, so the guy undoubtedly couldn’t read it.

Anyway, I’m glad it got to you OK.

That UPS driver sounds like a walking cliche, Dave! πŸ˜‰ I’m glad it got there intact.

And yay! I’ve been looking forward to this post!
