There is an item on Ebay and I don’t have any idea how to forward the ad to John, but it looks like it may not be a genuine Windstone. It looks like it is carved out of wood (I sent seller a question, but this is a powerseller that mainly deals in FAQs, so I doubt I will be answered), and there is no felt bottom, but it does say Windstone Editions on the bottom. They said it was made in ’84. The item # is 380048417946. So if somebody could look at this auction, and let me know if it’s real, or forward it on to John for me, I would appreciate it. Thanks. :squeak:

July 27, 2008 at 3:51 am #725309I bid on it and it’s real. (Everyone leave it alone lol)
July 27, 2008 at 3:51 am #725310It’s genuine…not fake
July 27, 2008 at 4:15 am #725311why does it look like it has a wooden bottom, and not felt? Or were they made that way back then?
July 27, 2008 at 4:21 am #725312The first ones didn’t have felt – they just had a stamp. 😀
July 27, 2008 at 6:42 am #725313Yup the very old Windstone figures have either no marking whatsoever (I have a couple of old dinosaurs with unfinished white bases) or a finished bottom with a Windstone Editions ink stamp. The finishing process gives the bottoms that woodgrained look, although I suspect it’s not on purpose and comes from the pieces being finished on a grinder. The armadillo looks genuine to me too, I can’t imagine that it’ll go cheap!
Forever seeking: Blackwatch the raffle Old Warrior, Jennifer Miller's pieces, and GB Baby unis!
July 27, 2008 at 2:20 pm #725314That’s quite real, as far as I can tell! He’s a very rare critter.
Windstones are sanded on the bottom after they are cast, to make them flat, which causes some grooves (and hence the woodgrain look). The first, very old Windstones, had a stamp on the bottom and no felt. The felt pads came quite a bit later.

July 27, 2008 at 5:54 pm #725317I can’t find this armadillo auction on Ebay. I’m curious to see what it went for. Did anybody win it?
July 27, 2008 at 6:05 pm #725318Aww armadillo…. *grabby hands*
July 27, 2008 at 6:16 pm #725319Miss Melody..it hasn’t ended yet…stilla couple hours to go, i don’t wanna post the link in case someone is bidding from here….it’s pricey for a teeny (although rare and totally adorable) piece.

Here you go, Melody!
I don’t feel bad posting it. Anyone that searches for “Windstone” on eBay will see it. It’s not ‘hidden.’
