I dug my old Badger airbrush out this afternoon; and it got me wondering…How many of you use an airbrush, traditional brushes, or both?
I’m going to start experimenting with the airbrush again; it’s been a very looooooong time since I’ve used one. This should be interesting. 😉

Is there anyone out there that could maybe write a tutorial for using the airbrush? Apologies if this has been brought up somewhere else already…

I’ve never used an airbrush before and couldn’t begin to figure it out. I was going to do it to base coat PYOs when I first got them so the paint would apply better, but I couldn’t even do that. I just use spray paint instead, LOL!

My husband wants an airbrush. Any recommendations for a small, relatively cheap model that works well? I don’t think we’d use it all the time, so I don’t want to invest too much.

I don’t know if this will help, but Badger used to put out a kit that came with the gun, the hose, a can of propellent, and 2 mixing jars. I believe I got that kit at one of the craft stores. Unfortunately, I don’t recall what I paid for it, but since I managed to snag it in the first place, my guess would be it wasn’t horribly pricey.
Some of the art supply places have kits that are going for around $150 and up, but you’ll still need either propellent, or a compressor. If you aren’t looking to use it all the time, you might be able to get away with the cans of propellent. Hope that helps!

My mother got one from Totem (I think it’s a Canadian hardware store) that had the gun, and the compressor. I think she paid a pretty penny for it too, and never used it. One of these days, I’m going to ask her what she wants for it, or at least if I can borrow it to paint PYOs, until then, I may go and buy hardware store spray paints 😆

I have never used an airbrush, always paintbrushes.

I only use paintbrushes. I don’t know how to use an airbrush, and you can detail so much better with the paintbrushes.

I don’t know how to use an airbrush either, but that’s something I’d like to learn. Eventually. One day.

Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I had an airbrush… I really sucked at trying to use it..

so I traded it to dragonessjade… have no clue how she’s getting along with it..

so now I just use brush… or whatever else I find available..

                hehe

I’ve used an airbrush twice, and only for the base coat and only while my bf was watching me. It’s his airbrush…and an expensive one too so I didn’t want to screw it up. I still don’t remember how to put it all back together after you clean it.

I think I’ll just stick to my hand painting.
