Thanks to all of you for your prayers and well wishes. My mom had her surgery, and it’s very hard to get used to seeing her without legs. Today was the first day she was really herself. Up till now she’s been extremely tired and hallucinating from the medication. She’s still in the hospital, but we’re hoping to get her out in a few days. Unfortunately she has to go to a nursing home for rehab, but I’m hoping it will only be a couple months. Both my parents are depressed and I keep trying to find something to lift their spirits, but not much does now. The doctor doesn’t give me a very good outlook on her as she still isn’t eating. He doesn’t expect her to live thru the year, and that’s been very hard on the family. However, all your warm wishes and prayers have helped, and I’m very grateful for them. Thank you for being there.

I will pray for you and your parents. Just continue to be there for them; sometimes that’s the best medicine.

nursing home rehab is a bad idea IMO . They have rehab centers in the hospitals where its clean and the nurses actually treat you better than in a home , if her insurance pays for that i would reconmend that route. The infection rate from a nursing home is crazy , the facilities are rarley clean, run by under payed under trained people who really dont give two craps about the people there. If you can talk to her doctor about inpaitient rehab its much safer . They wanted me to do Nursing Home rehab till my surgeon caught wind of it and scrapped because if infection risk that idea and went on a rampage .

After how badly she was neglected in the hospital, there’s no way I’d leave her there for rehab. They didn’t turn her, she got bed sores, not to menntion there was confusion about her meds. I work in dialysis and have a very good relationship with the home I picked for rehab, which is why I picked it. However, thank you for the insight…sounds like your hospitals might be a little better than the ones we have here.

I hope rehab goes well for her, and that she starts eating again…

Just be there for her, that’s probably the best you can do for her right now. *hugs*
