1. First, spy a baby.
2. Second, be sure that the object you spied was indeed a baby by employing classic sniffing techniques — if you smell baby powder and the wonderful aroma of wet diapers this is, indeed, a baby.
3. Next you will need to flatten the baby before actually beginning the hugging process.
**Note: The added slobber should help in future steps by making the ‘paw slide’ easier.**4. The ‘Paw Slide’: Simply slide paws around baby and prepare for possible close-up.
5. Finally, if a camera is present, you will need to execute the difficult and patented ‘Hug, Smile, and Lean’ so as to achieve the best photo quality.
PERFECT!!!

July 9, 2008 at 9:43 am #721412Those are great pics of irresponsible owners IMO. Anyone who would allow a 160-200lb dog lay on their baby is fraking retarded. The Neo people were up in arms when these stupid pics first hit the net, and cant believe that someone would actually be that stupid. Then people wonder how mauling happen . Pretty disturbing.
July 9, 2008 at 12:28 pm #721413I think the pics are adorable. Though, if it were me, I’d be worried the dog would smother the baby when nobody was looking. Unintentional, I’m sure, but that’s an awfully big dog, and an awfully small kiddo.

No, my in-laws emailed these to me. 😀

I thought of the same thing, but I was thinking about this…the parents were there the whole time and they probably knew the dog and what he/she is capapble of. Some dogs are VERY gentle and love babies (I know this from my American bulldog), also, the baby looks really happy this whole time! If the baby were getting crushed, hurt, or pinched in any way, then it would reflect on the baby’s face. I’m sure the dog is just a gentle giant.
July 9, 2008 at 8:03 pm #721417Sorry I have a “gentle giant” and while I dont think he would ever hurt anything purposely it would be a cold day in hell that he was allowed to roll around on a child for a photo shoot. Alex is 9 and Gage is only 111 lbs, and I dont let them wrestle either, it only takes a second for something to go wrong, and a bone to get broken, parents there or not. That kid does not look happy in photo 3 either, and what happened to the rest of the pictures? Would you really let a dog that size slide its paw under your babys face? Lool at the dog nails, have you ever had a dog that size paw you? I can tell you have have bruises from mine doing it, gentle or not they are still dogs.
You also need to take into consideration the breed pictured, Neos are an extremely dominant and protective breed, the way that dog is laying it is showing dominance over that baby, a huge no no with the breed.
But hey silly me for thinking that a child is more important that some stupid pictures. 🙄July 9, 2008 at 8:43 pm #721418ruffian wrote:Sorry I have a “gentle giant” and while I dont think he would ever hurt anything purposely it would be a cold day in hell that he was allowed to roll around on a child for a photo shoot.
While I pretty much agree with you, and don’t trust dogs myself (although we have a couple), I have to ask, given that dogs have puppies that are usually even smaller than a human baby, do we see more maimed and dead puppies with those big dogs than with smaller dogs? And are not humans pretty darned big and heavy themselves, so if they are playing with the baby or sleeping in the same bed with it, isn’t there a good risk of injury there too?
Obviously if a big dog decided to maul a baby, there would be no stopping it. It’s a risk anyone takes who has a big dog AND a baby.
But I’d bet that, in general, a baby is less likely to be injured by the family pet than by, say, a jealous older sibling. It’s just that when older siblings go bad it’s not usually fatal…
July 9, 2008 at 8:57 pm #721419I think mother dogs or any animal for that matter “knows” where their babies are and are instinctually careful not to smother or crush them.
This dog is using this baby as a toy. He’s looking at the baby like he’s saying “Play?”
Totally irresponsible. It’s like parents who put their unhelmeted kids on horses or ponies because they “know” their pony is safe. Just irresponsible.
And while I love cute pictures… It’s just not worth it to put a child in danger.I seem to remember a guy who coaxed a bear into his minivan so he could take pictures of the bear in the van with his kids. Just fabulous parenting 🙄

July 9, 2008 at 9:45 pm #721421i think animals have a knowledge of what a baby is and to be gentel.
Hobo ( our cat) allows Alyssa to do things to him that he would tear me a new butt hole for . When i was ablut 2 or 3 i had a huge Dobermanthat would do that sort of thing to me and my sister nd never hurt us . She was really protecting us , i remember she wouldnt let a soul into the yard with us and all the rest of the block thought she was Satans dog , but to us she was our protector , i even have pictures of me riding her like a horse.
I think the pics were funny , you shouldnt have taken them down IMO
July 9, 2008 at 9:52 pm #721422I remember watching a Funniest Home video of a very large German Shepherd wrestling with a young (3 to 4?) little girl. From time to time he would actually put his jaws on either side of her neck. 😯 You could hear the father, who was filming it, saying “maybe I should stop this now.” People thought it was hysterical. I thought it should have been sent to Children Protective Services. Accidents happen – and letting a 120 Shep mouth your 30 to 40 lb kid’s neck is STUPID.
A couple years ago there was a tragedy on LI where a Golden retriever was out in the yard playing with a 6 year old girl. She had a scarf on and the dog evidently started playing tug of war and choked her to death. Completely bizarre accident. But that is why kids should always be observed around dogs (sometimes to protect the dog!)
