Due to the holiday, I thought I’d ask a question to those individuals still peeking in on the forum: What are your guilty pleasure movies, songs, books, TV shows, ect. ❓

For instance, I still like listening to Celine Dion songs (yes, that includes “My Heart Will Go On”). And sometimes I enjoy watching terribly acted, cheesy special effects, low budget Sci-Fi movies! And for years I hid from my boyfriend (now ex) that I had Pokemon plushes, Kelly club dolls, and action figures. And I could go on and on πŸ˜†

Anyone else willing to share a guilty pleasure? I would not blame you if you wanted to keep the really guilty ones to yourself.

Or just take this opportunity to ridicule me for liking Celine πŸ˜›

Not so guilty, but one of my big weaknesses is books…I love to read, and you will find books scattered throughout the house, most of them already read, with the current read on top. Once a month my husband goes through and relocates the read ones back to the library room where they belong.

Don’t let me loose in a bookstore. If the whole family goes we’re lucky to get out the door for under $70, and that is even when we just went the week before. Needless to say we haven’t been there in a while. Amazon is my friend.

Other guilty pleasures is music, I admit to liking Madonna, especially her older songs. I also like to sing while at work, the machines are so loud no one can hear me anyway. *grin* Though one co-worker heard me once and told me I had a nice voice. 😳
At the time it was Xmas and I was singing “Little Drummer Boy”

Other religious songs I adore, though I am no longer a church goer is “The Old Rugged Cross” for some reason that song really moves me. Grandma had it played at her funeral she and I always loved that song, so I was pleased they played it for her.

I also like Celine Dion, and Bette Midler songs, anything that has challenging soaring bits where you have to sustain breath, Whitney Houston too. Singing along is a big thing for me, especially in the car. Drives hubby nuts, he’s the type who just sits and listens, never joins in, no fun is he.

I love singing in the car or at my computer. I also adore The Golden Girls, and finally have all of them on DVD. 😳

I also love Top Gear, the BBC car show.

And I also have every episode of Top Chef on my computer. We don’t have TV, so I bought them all through iTunes and Amazon. I watch them constantly. πŸ˜€

My biggest guilty pleasure, though, is not leaving the house in a given day. If I don’t have any errands to run, or have the day off work, and don’t have to go anywhere, it’s a good day. πŸ˜€

I just recently stopped collecting My Little Pony, I read books like I have a hungry bookworm inside of me, and when my hands aren’t strapped to my keyboard and mouse they’re strapped to a video game controller! πŸ˜† I’ve almost forgotten what being outside is like! πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

I like singing in: the shower, at my computer, when I’m in the car, and basically anywhere else. Me, not knowing a lick of German, joined a German choir so that I could sing soprano. Aparently I have a wicked range. Top is probably the A above high C, and down to… probably the G or F# below middle C. So just over 2 octaves.

So… singing! πŸ˜€ Colin and roommate like to listen to me, so at least it’s not me pissing off my roommates.

Books…my life for books. I seriously need a library, one of those big old fashioned ones with the rolling ladder…

Putting a CD I like, on repeat play, and listening to it all day.

I get to do this in the store. (If you dislike Klaus Schulze’s music, don’t visit Astral Castle. Or at least call ahead and warn me.)

Also, I’ve had my car for two years now, but the tuner can’t pick up PBS, talk radio is too deeply frustrating to listen to, and the music stations don’t play anything that inspires me, so I’ve had two different cassette tapes that I’ve listened to over and over and over as I drive. The first year I played Kate Bush’s “Hounds of Love”; currently I am playing Kate Bush’s “The Dreaming”. I’m to the point where I’ve forgotten how good “Hounds of Love” is, so it’s probably about time to switch back again.

            (And yes, I don’t carpool…)

art supplies….I just have to buy them….I have art supplies crammed everywhere in my workshop…some of which I’ve never used..and some I havent a clue how to use. I have stacks of blank canvases…jars of paintbrushes….sewing machines..cloth, oil paints, rice paper, gallons of glue, the top half of a dress fitting mannequin…..etc etc….I collect screwdrivers and scissors too….you just cant have too many of them. πŸ˜†

              Oh….and I like eating pure cake icing for breakfast…with a spoon. 😳

I listen to Japanese anime song collections in the car, and sometimes mangle my way through what I think are the lyrics. I collect music: largely anime, soundtracks, and folk music. I don’t know if my singing voice is any good, because I’m too shy to let anyone actually hear me. 😳

If it’s been a bad day, there’s nothing like a grilled cheese sandwich on oversized sourdough bread . . . and using Kraft “plastic cheese” slices. Dill pickles, preferably Claussen. Gigantic slices of watermelon. Please don’t let me near bridge mix, especially if it has chocolate-covered gumdrops in it.

I’m another buyer and hoarder of craft supplies. While I probably do (eventually) use about 80% of them, it might be only once a year at best. I tend to get a little obsessive-compulsive on whatever the current project may be. I once lugged a woodcarving knife set and three chunks of wood all over the San Diego Comic-Con for four days. The weight just about fried my shoulders, but indirectly led to my first date with the guy who’s now my husband. I’m calling that one serendipity. πŸ˜›

We have boxes, boxes, and still more boxes of books. I rarely get rid of any, and have been known to hunt books down later on and buy them back. I buy books like a maniac if there’s a used-book store around, but I’m a little too cheap to do the same thing at regular bookstores. A used-book store is an excuse to buy some really weird books. There’s one in Sparks, NV that I go to once a year, and usually come out of there with two or three dozen. I’ll buy old textbooks if it’s a subject I like, even if the material is way out of date. “I could use it for reference” is usually the excuse. πŸ™„ And sitting on the couch for two or three hours with a good book is heaven. Even better if there’s bridge mix, or a sugar-based ginger ale involved.

              Guilty Pleasures…hmm…

I eat pure frosting out of the jar once in a great while too, chocolate fudge icing mmmmm usually only a spoon or two though.

Sleeping until noon or later is my big one at the moment. I work most nights until midnight and don’t get sleepy til around 1-2am, so I sleep well past when I should be up, but I just love to sleep in, even if I can’t sleep, I like to just lay in bed and day dream.

I can read all day too. I used to do that in highschool. I’d have a book open in class and have it finished by bedtime that same day. I love fantasy novels (dragons, magic, etc.)

there are more, but that’s enough πŸ˜€

I like not so great SciFi movies – I don’t know how many times I’ve watched Soldier with Kurt Russell (ok, he’s a guilty pleasure too!) and just saw Cherry 2000 again. Even if the movie isn’t great I like seeing people’s vision of the future or other worlds.

Really, really guilty pleasure? I used to have a tape of Hogan Heroes’ Sing the Best of WWII! 😳 😳 I taped it off a library record and listened to it so many times it finally wore out.

Books for me too – I keep swearing I’m not going to buy anymore until I put a dent in the ones I have but then LKH or J.R. Ward or Linda Howard comes out with a new one…plus I’ve started reading erotica lately.

Nachos – the ultimate guilty pleasure.

Have you gotten to read Blood Noir yet?? I have it if you would like to borrow it, but you have to send it back. I am impatiently awaiting Swallowing Darkness.

I just bought the entire x-files series on DVD so I could watch all the episodes before the new movies huts theaters πŸ˜† πŸ˜†
