These past few days I’ve been so frustrated. I’m irritated at John’s Hopkins for the piss poor treatment they gave my husband. I wasn’t sure if he would come home when I had my two night works so I put in for battalion leave in hopes that I could get off in case he was still in the hospital and I couldn’t find someone to watch Alyssa. So I checked the staffing computer and sure enough I wasn’t off. Lucky for me they let Danny out yesterday. So tonight I’m getting ready for work, kiss Alyssa and Danny goodbye and head off. I get to work and there is an extra person there. I call up my captain since we are not housed in the same station and ask him who is supposed to be working tonight. He tells me ” you and Rick” so I’m like “ok there are three of us down here”. So he looks in the staffing computer and is all like “oh the battalion chief gave you off battalion leave. 😡 Its my captains job to maintain the schedule and he should have checked to see who was working tonight. I checked the other day and they still had me working. So now I’ve driven 30 miles to get to work in my crappy blazer that gets zero miles to the gallon just to be told turn around and go home. I was so pissed, why couldn’t they have told me this yesterday!

          Yuck!

But…at least you can spend a nice night at home?

          Still…that’s very irritating.

Yeah, that is BS…I got called in once for busting a theif who was stealing from the residents at a care center I worked for. They called me in before shift, told me to come in street clothing and go in now. I drive 15 miles to be told I am “Indefinately suspended”. I was mad as hell! 😡 Then 45 minutes after I get home they call and ask if I can come into work! 😯 I was so mad I said no, I don’t have a babysitter because I told her I couldn’t afford to pay her if I wasn’t working. 😈 (I had a babysitter too. 😆 )
Gramma always said, “Don’t get mad. Just get even!” 😆 😆
But I was still mad I had to drive 30 miles to get told I was suspended for catching the money theif. BTW she got away with over $500 dollars of peoples SS checks. They only get $30 of it to keep and the center kept the rest. So, how BS is that?!?!?! 😛 🙄
They could have atleast called you and let you know. *nods*

Dang what crap. Im sorry. 😕 The Army screws things up on a regular, but that is an entity… there is never a person you can direct your anger at. 😆

              Wow! That really sucks!!
I had a college professor who would post a note on the classroom door to notify us if he was sick instead of using the college emailing system. I live about 25 minutes away, and when it happened the first couple of times I didn’t mind too much, but he did that about eight more times!! He should have considered the cost of gas, and how far some students had to drive!! If he used the emailing system, then I could have been notified at home right before I left. Grrrr!!!

Strange. That happened to me too, about 3 times with a prof. After a 1/2hr bus ride at 7am – I was fine the first time, but not the other two. I could have slept in an hour 🙁 But then it would have been a 45min bus ride, it gets really busy and really slow at around 8:00am. 🙄

They have to remind you that they are in control

I have been sent home from work because we didn’t have a real BIG day. No warning prior to going in. Such as life.

And I have had college teachers leave notes on the door as well. I didn’t ever think to check my email before going to class and NOT everyone has internet (as hard as that is to believe).

None of the teachers I had used the e-mail system to notify us when they weren’t going to be in. They either told us in advance in class or just posted the note. I preferred it when they told us in class so I didn’t have to blow 2 hours of my time (round trip) to get to school, only to go back home! 😡 Purpledoggy and WindstoneCollector, I’m sorry that your employers don’t treat you like human beings. The left hand, many times, doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. 🙄

I loved that when the teacher left a note on the door… meant I could go to dinner with friends or run errands I needed to do…

and I really really loved being sent home from work I always had things to do… and to be sure not to waste gas I’d do everything I needed to do on that side of town before I came home… or I’d sit at B&N with a book I wanted to read…

I don’t think I’d ever be grumpy about not having to stay at work no matter how far I had to drive… there’s always something to turn it around into a good thing…
