Okay, so…this is directly related to something I want to do to a PYO, so I’m asking here. >>;
Do any of you know what those little clear, rainbow-ish glass/plastic (??) stones, usually in the shape of a cabochon (looks like half a sphere) or sphere, that are often used on little pewter figurines are called? I bought this little pewter dagger from Hobby Lobby just so I could dig one out of it and see what it was. >.>; It looks to be made of plastic with a silver backing, which is what I assume makes it look rainbow, but what do I know? XD Anyhow, I’ve searched for it on the internet every way I know how (I don’t want to buy some pewter doodad to dig one out of everytime I want one), and it must have some special name, because I can’t find any loose ones for the life of me.
Anyone? =( I can take a picture of the one I dug out of the dagger if need be.
June 21, 2008 at 2:10 pm #495916June 21, 2008 at 2:38 pm #716587Are you talking about prisms? Like the one the large wizards hold? Only just a half one? I’m sorta confuzzled. I’ve seen alot of pewter daggers, but maybe you should post a pic of the “gem” type thing you are talking about. 😉
June 21, 2008 at 2:51 pm #716588a pic would be helpful… 😀

June 21, 2008 at 3:21 pm #716589No, it isn’t a prism. XD They’re smooth…and yeah, I’ll just take a picture. @.@; *should have done that in the first place!*

June 21, 2008 at 3:41 pm #716591mmmmm…I know what you’re talking about…but havent a clue about how to find it. 😕
June 21, 2008 at 4:59 pm #716592LOL I wasn’t sure. I just thought I’d ask. 😆 (I didn’t figure it was a prism, actually I was thinking of the red one my friend’s dagger has. It is in the hilt, and it’s flat on one side and rounded on the other.) But the way you explained it had me thinking prism cuz of the rainbow colors. 😳
June 21, 2008 at 6:54 pm #716593Okay, here’s as close as I could get to it. I think the main colors in it are pink and green…my lamp probably yellowed it out a bit too. But you get the idea. >.>;
It’s got some glue around the edges, so that’s why they look rough. I just bent the dagger until it popped out. e.e;
June 21, 2008 at 7:31 pm #716594Is it like one of those glass beads they sell in bags for decorating plant pots? I know I have some around here. I think they refer to what I am talking aobut as glass drops? 😕
Like these?
June 21, 2008 at 8:47 pm #716595Like Mancala stones! XD (that’s what WSC picture reminded me of)
June 21, 2008 at 9:15 pm #716596No, they’re not such natural shapes. These are definitely like…crapped out by a machine somewhere. XD And I think they’re made of acrylic, not glass. I’ve only found one site that sells what I *think* might be them, but…the picture sucks. >.>; I might buy some just to see.

Edit : Nevermind, they’re out. =( What the monkey. I know those people that make those little pewter things get them somewhere!
Edit 2 : Nevermind again. I found somewhere selling them (with a decent picture!), but it’s in the UK. 9_9; I bought them anyways. *coughs* I’ll show you when I get them. XD The size I ordered didn’t have a picture. BUT, I figured out what they’re called. Apparently, they’re done with Vitrail. It’s some kind of paint, from what I read elsewhere. >.> Interesting…
June 21, 2008 at 10:50 pm #716597have you tried Fire Mountain Gems for cabochons? They’ve got all kinds of great stuff… I like the paper catalogue better than the online one. I think I saw cabochons with a vitrial finish to them in my hard copy catalogue.

That’s what I was going to recommend! That place had just about everything. They have the best selection of cabochons that I know of. 😀
