Me and Colin are looking for some good music to play at our “In house” date tonight for my birthday!

    Anyone got some good ones?

    THANK YOU in advance!

*laughs!* Sorry, I have a lot of music I think is good, but my tastes are eclectic… and probably not good party music unless you’re a bunch of metalheads… m/
      😉

      Good luck!

It’s just the two of us actually so not really a party! I have that problem too though, I like the goth-y bands like Within Temptation and Nightwish…. not good date music hm?

Sorry but I don’t think I’m any help either. My tastes run to Depeche Mode, The Cure, Linkin Park…not really date music either. 😆

I’m listening to a CD called Torch Songs. It’s all female artists singing jazzy versions fo songs. I got it in a grab bag for $1 and it was one of the BEST dollars I have EVER spent!!

I think the chances of you getting a suggestion for music that you both actually turn out to like is pretty slim. And you don’t want to risk blowing a date with “crappy” music.

It’s your birthday. You should put on some music that YOU like that you don’t think Colin has heard.

When Linda did this for me, 22 years ago, we found we had more in common that either of us had thought. She played a Randy Newman album, thinking she was introducing me to the Master. We both love Randy Newman. Then she played CSN. I’d only ever heard of CSNY, and then only because of Y. I was, like, “Hey, this is good stuff!” Then she played Joni Mitchell, and it turned out she had all the albums I didn’t have; I had the ones she didn’t have.

When it came to my turn it didn’t go quite so well (Frank Zappa, Klaus Schulze, Peter Hammill) but she did pick up on Tangerine Dream.

You can learn a lot about someone from their taste in music, but I think if you are going to take suggestions you should just turn on the radio.

(Note that this is a bit like going to a fancy restaurant and ordering a beefburger, though.)

I didn’t say I would take all suggestions… but sometimes they turn out good!

            It was a random chance!

Aww but I don’t have all the ingredients for special brownies! 😆 I don’t know if I have ANY of the ingredients, now that I think about it…

How about Celine Dion? I also like bands like Nightwish and Within Temptation.

Then you should try Nightwish or Within Temptation. They are like Evanescence, only, in my opinion, better 8) But everyone has their own tastes and all!

BY THE WAY…. Colin played Every Rose Has it’s Thorn, and Dust in the Wind, and some funny cats singing the happy birthday song…. It was a good coupla dances!

Enya is pretty relaxing/calming. Maybe you might like her. Secret Garden is also nice. Yo Yo Ma is mostly instrumental, but also beautiful.

Sorry, I like the New Age stuff. 😀
