Hi Everyone,
I know that most sites list the weight and height of the Windstone dragons, but I was wondering if there are any out there (if there’s a list) that lists the foot-space, or depth of the base of the statues.
I’m trying to decide on a wall curio, and can’t figure out how deep I need to go, as I can’t measure beyond the statues I already have. For example, I don’t yet have an Emperor (he’s on my list :)), and therefore don’t know how much depth to allow for him in a display case. Same for the OW.
I’ve also tried to get shops/manufacturers to tell me the maximum weight limit on a (glass) shelf, to no avail for stupid purposes.
Experienced collectors, do you have any clues?
Much obliged!
🙂June 1, 2008 at 11:34 pm #709864Count about 8 inches in depth for the emperor and 9 inches for the old warrior. Aside from the secret keeper, they’re the largest ones at the base.
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I host the feedback lists, which are maintained by drag0nfeathers.

June 2, 2008 at 1:56 am #709866I’d choose a 12″ shelf depth, that will cover just about all of them with the exception of the SK, as for weight on glass, we had that discussion once.
Recommended is to put all the heavy ones on the bottom, and if you do put one on a glass shelf, then try to limit the weight by not putting more than one heavy one on the same shelf. If the glass shelves have a wooden support across the back supporting the glass you can get away with more, especially if you put some of the weight of the sculpture on the wood itself.
Just be really cautious and look for bowing of the glass or any instability.
Hope this info helps.

Thank ya’ll very much.
June 2, 2008 at 2:26 am #709868Another option is to go to a glass shop after you get the cabinet and get new shelves made of glass that can support more weight. You’ll also want to look and see how the glass is supported. If it’s the little plastic feet, you might want to replace those with something sturdier as well (like wood or – even better – metal doweling).
June 2, 2008 at 5:27 pm #709869You will need at least 12″ as Kyrin stated. I have 8 Emperors and an OW in my glass cases. I think mine are actaully 14″ (they might be 12″ though) deep and on the bottom shelf I have the Emperors and their Fledgling in front of them. I actually have 8 Emperors in the cases. I also have Kyrins Mama Emperor and will soon have the Gold then EmPea ones before I get the Red Fire ones. My cases where bought at Levitz and they are now out of business and they sold the display case out from under me so when I can finally get my 3rd case I will have to try and play match maker and find one I think will compliment the other 2. If I’m correct Emperors are 8″ acorss the bottom but you also have to add in for the chest and wings
