Hi all I am pretty new collector and I went to check my favorite seller list and seen an Ebay auction that I about fell out of my chair laughing. Then I read the auction and got the point.
So I thought I would check out this place as I seen some of you commented to the seller auction in the questions.
Sorry if my reply to the person seemed rude as I am not a rude lady. Just confused, but after reading all the post I can see a certain person is not very happy so its best not to judge the board by her post.
I really like this place and will now enjoy learning what I can from you folks.
I like to collect the Dinos. My grandson is so into them that I thought I would start this collection and it could be something he could have from me years down the road. But he is only 4 now and wants to play with them LOL.
But now I have bought other items and I fear it isnt going to stop lol.
Years back I didnt get this whole windstone thing. I would see them in the stores and thought they looked like something made in china, AND PLEASE KNOW I DO NOT THINK THAT NOW.
I LOVE THEM!!!!!! I never picked one up and looked at it. Nor did I know how collectible they are and now as I am finding out ADDICTING. I dont know drugs might be cheaper lol.
Well my husband likes them now so I got the Ok to explore other types.
Could anyone tell me what is the one to seek out? I know it should be what you love. But what colors or types are the ones to collect that will only go up?
Thank you in AdvanceMay 22, 2008 at 11:03 pm #495530May 22, 2008 at 11:08 pm #706320the white dragons seem to be pretty rare and always fetch a good price, although my personal favorites are the peacock dragons. They are gorgeous. 😀 😀 😀 Welcome! we’re glad you found us! 😀 😀
May 22, 2008 at 11:08 pm #706321Welcome to the forum 😀
Thats so great your starting a collection for your grandson. I would say 4 isn’t too young to start collecting, my daughter is only 4 months and she already has a few dragons, griffins and a unicorn in her collection lol. I think pretty much all the windstones go up in value so go for whatever one you like. There are dragons, unicorns, griffins, flap cats, all kinds of windstones. I don’t know if you’ve checked out the windstone store (the link is on the main page). Maybe you could browse around there and see what you like. Again welcome to the forum and don’t let the actions of one person keep you away from such a wonderful community.May 22, 2008 at 11:09 pm #706322Welcome! Almost every windstone appreciates in value, especially after the piece has been retired. For an idea of what pieces Windstone has made a regular production pieces through the years, check out Astral Castle’s Windstone Editions Encyclopedia. It will give you an idea of what the pieces originally sold for.
If you want an idea of what pieces have been re-selling on ebay for the last two years (since Oct. 1, 2006) check out the online sales database. Set the box that says “special” to “all” and you’ll find the mint and non mint pieces. “Special” auctions are the test paints and such that Windstone Editions has offered on ebay.
May 22, 2008 at 11:09 pm #706323Hi and welcome to the forums! Yes, Windstones are very addictive; just try to pace yourself so you don’t dig yourself into a debt hole. 😀 As to what types to seek out, it depends on what you like. Do you like dragons? Unicorns? Pegasi? Animals? Candlelamps? It’s really about personal preference. Most Windstones (if not all) appreciate in value over the years, so I don’t think you have to worry about that. Just collect the ones you like! That’s what matters!

Explore the “Show your collection” threads; they’ll give you a good idea about what’s out there and what you like the most.
The Flea Market area will also be a good spot.
Have fun! I love this place 😀

Omg, thank you so much.
I bought my first one at a Head Shop in my area that must not have known what they had and I paid very little as I seen it go for over 195.00 on the Ebay.
I had seen them years back in some of our small owner shops and was shocked at the price and all. I just didnt get it, and dog gone it I wish I would have. Because it was years ago and I am sure I made a hugh mistake LOL
Yes I want to know if what I am paying is a fair Price.
And what if any are the best to collect.
Like I said I like the dino eggs.
But now OMG its gone to the dragons.
And I love the green ones.May 22, 2008 at 11:38 pm #706330Aw shucks you’re welcome. Only reason I even had all the links on hand is because I snagged them when looking for images to use with the online sales database. I’m the one that currently maintains it.

My art: featherdust.comMay 23, 2008 at 12:02 am #706332So glad you found us! Dragons? Yep, that’s what got me first, LURV the male dragon sculpt. Then there are the griffies…. those little griffy chicks are too, too irresistable 😆 …and ya can’t forget the flap cats. There were some test paints of these listed on ebay recently. Neat to have ‘new’ Windstones to hunt for…. I could go on and on!
