May 21, 2008 at 3:10 am #705337I have a quick question about sealing a statue…so my parent had this big ruster ststue in front of their house and since all of the paint on him started to fade away they asked me to repaint him for them and so I am…but my question is…if I repaint him in acrelic paints which I use on my Windstone PYO`s, when I go to seal him with an out door sealer will it be OK ❓
I have never sealed anything with an out door sealer and since I am not using out door paints I am concerned about what it may do to the paint on him and since he is so big I want to make sure that all the work I put into him will not be ruined in the end.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated… 🙂Marzena
May 21, 2008 at 3:31 am #705338I believe Krylon has an indoor/outdoor sealer that sprays on. 😀 I use gloss Krylon on my PYO’s.

Thanks… 😀 That might be my vest bet than.. 🙂
Can you get that at Michaels ❓Michael’s should have it. So should a hardware store. For some reason if you get it at a non-craft store it’s less expensive.

May 21, 2008 at 4:51 am #705341I get mine at Michael’s! 😀
May 21, 2008 at 7:57 am #705342Michael’s, Walmart, Joanns, and hardware stores I have all bought the outdoor/indoor sealer from.
May 21, 2008 at 12:23 pm #705343LOL I get mine at Walmart, but that is where I have found the cheapest price. At Dick Blick it is around $7 and at WallyWorld it’s about $5. But that is here in the dead middle of the US of A. 😆 Usually they have it at Hobby Lobby too. 😀
May 28, 2008 at 8:46 pm #705344I just found something that *could* be sealer. They say it’s just an indoor outdoor paint though, so I hope it works. It’s at least clear and should make things easier (I hope).
I figured this was an opportune thread to put that in.
It is the Krylon but it’s, indoor/outdoor paint, it’s in clear satin but there was also a gloss. That works right???? I’m not going to wreck my commission with this stuff am I?

I have Krylon brand for all Gloss, Satin and Matte. Mine all say “clear” or “crystal clear”. As long as the cap is clear (you can also look at the proof of purchase thing… it might say “clear” on it), it should be fine.
May 28, 2008 at 10:37 pm #705346That’s good because I’d already used it before I asked the question… 😳
Impatient people get much done poorly!

Thanks! 😀 Everyone was changing theirs… so I not really felt left out. So I made a new one 😆 After all I had my old one since I signed up here well over a year ago 😯
May 29, 2008 at 6:31 pm #705349Can I use the Krylon stuff as a topcoat, or should I have something that specifically says topcoat?
The spray on looks much better then the paint on does… and I’m lazy.
