First thing that happened after arriving at work was there was an announcement at our morning safety meeting. My dear friend and co-worker Juanita lost her father and brother to an automobile accident on Sunday night, her stepson was also with them and was injured, but is going to be okay and has already been released from the hospital.

Needless to say Juanita was not at work, but both her father and brother lived with her and funeral expenses are going to be high, and neither had life insurance…her Dad was on Social Security, and they pay you a whopping $300 for funeral expenses, if you are lucky. So she and her husband are expected to pay for the funeral, and I guess on top of it the family wants them buried in Arizona, so they are renting a Uhaul and transporting the bodies themselves…talk about an emotionally difficult situation, I think her family is asking way too much of her at this time.

This whole thing has to seem like some kind of horrible nightmare. Anyway, I am really sad for her, and I know how much she has to be hurting about now, she was very close with both. Add in that her mother died just last year and her Dad just recovered from a stroke that had her freaking out, I imagine she is not doing too well right now.

That was the sad part of my day.

The funny part of my day was when I called home to let my family know I was off work and heading home.

Bill tells me that when he went out to feed the horses, my almost 2 year old daughter took advantage of his brief foray outside to get the last of the apple pie off the counter and to eat it. This was approximately 1/4 of a full sized pie.

When Bill came back inside and started making breakfast, Karli announced that she “wanted to eat that!”

He told her, “You have to be kidding, you just ate 1/4 of a pie!”

    She replied, “Hungry”.

He tells her, “You can’t be hungry, you just ate all that pie.”

She says, “Yes, but only baby bites”.

    ROTFL!

    Silly kid!

I’m so very sorry about your friend, Kyrin. 🙁 That is very sad what happened to her father and brother.

Your daughter is funny though. She must have been very hungry. Get that girl some more apple pie, stat! 😆

they had better check with the state laws, my step fathers family tried to move a body in a pick up years ago in iowa and they were told it had to be a comercially licensed vehicle for the pourpose of transporting human remanes or they could get charged with illegally transporting a body … next we will need a lisence to take a pee 😛

on a second note only a quarter of a pie …i will eat the whole thing at a sitting ask PD she yells at me for it

Yeah, I wondered about that…not sure what they are going to do.

Well you are considerably larger than my daughter, being that she isn’t quite 2 years old just yet and only weighs 26 lbs, I think a whole pie would be just a bit of a challenge for even her to manage! LOL!

I would yell at you too, but mostly cause you didn’t leave me any!

            Isn’t a Uhaul a commercially licensed vehicle technically? 😕

I hope you were at work when that pie caught up with her! 😯

This was my response to his constant asking me “Why am I so fat?”

Oh, Kyrin, I’m sorry to hear about your friend’s family. I hope she can take some time off to heal.

26lbs. and a quarter of a pie! Whoa, what an appetite! 😯 😆

Sorry to hear about your friends family. That is so sad. Transporting a body in a Uhaul? I am pretty sure that is not legal. 😯

Two bodies actually, her brother and her father both died in the crash.

I have no idea what the legalities are, but I imagine they are going to have to come up with the money to fly them to Arizona. But I don’t know, I just know what I was told.

I personally think that if the rest of the family want the bodies to be buried in Arizona, then they should help with the expenses, if not, then I would get them cremated, then take them over to be intered, but I’m practical like that.

I was just thinking that myself. Although they might want to check on the cost of cremation first. Or just compare costs all around. My nephew was killed in a car accident last august. They had the body cremated.
It was going to be $11,000 where they were. They had it done in another county for $8,000
