    My air compressor broke!

And it is not fixable, because the manufacturer no longer supports it, so no parts available. 😥

So I have to get a new one…meanwhile my oh so clever husband is rigging up a air tank so I can at least get the Keeper I am doing for DDVM finished.

That sucks. I hope your husband can fix something up for you to use in the meantime.

He did, and it looks like I may not need a compressor at all, he rigged something up with his big one in the garage that works really well. So…he’s talking about making it permanent by running PVC air pipe under the house from the garage and through the vent into my workroom.

Very cool. That will be cheaper than replacement, not to mention quieter by quite a lot.

That’s great. Sounds like a good plan. My husband is a “fixer” too. Never know what he’s going to come up with 😆

Defi9nitly cheaper, I’m trying to debate whether we’ll ever be able to justify a compressor. Otherwise there’s no point in buying an Air Brush.

Can you use canned air like Propel? I think its like $4 a can.
          How much do they cost?
Hope you can come up with something.

Propel is cost prohibitive, and the thing spits your paint out in gobs. I tried that before I invested in a n airbrush, it doesn’t work well at all.

Also, even if you could get it go without spitting, it wouldn’t last long. I tried painting that Sun Emperor with it, and I only got 1/4 of the base coat on him before I had to get the other bottle of air. I ended up finishing with a brush.

Anyway, a good airbrush compressor isn’t that expensive really, I found a decent one with an airbrush an all for $54 including shipping from Harbor Freight.

But it looks like what my husband rigged up is going to work really well, so I’m happy.

If all else fails, they sell very nice Husky air compressors at most home improvement stores. Mine cost only $160. 🙂

Yeah, but that is more than I want to spend on one, and since my husband’s huge air compressor in the garage is always on, it makes more sense to just piggyback a line onto it with a regulator and use that. Especially since it is working better than the little airbrush one that broke.

I suspect now, that mine has been broken for a while, since I am getting much better air pressure with this one, and that is with it set at what the airbrush compressor was supposed to be putting out.

Also, DDVM’s commissioned Keeper is mostly done, and man I am really loving how she is coming along, sending her home is going to be tough.

Pictures will be posted later, once I have her done and DDVM has had a chance to drool on her first.

Hrrrm…I’m needing a nice heavy duty one, I may check that out in a couple months when I have cash again!! Thanks!

I really like mine. I can let it run for about 3 minutes, it’ll get up to pressure, and I can turn it off and airbrush in peace and quiet for a good while!

Here’s DDVM’s Keeper, yay for clever husbands figuring out how to get air to my airbrush despite a busted airbrush compressor.

I’ve decided to call her Mardi Gras…she just looks very Mardi Gras to me…I am really hoping DDVM likes her.

Very lovely! I love the swirl detail around the eyes. 🙂
