How do you get the old glue out of the horn hole of the unicorns? I already chipped his forehead much more than I wanted. One I repaired was simple and the glue was soft so it came right out. This one’s glue is still hard.

Try putting some acetone into the hole and let it sit for awhile.

Though I will tell you that getting the horns out of any of these guys is really hard to do without damaging the sculpture…good luck.

I don’t even attempt it, though by accident and sheer luck I did manage to remove the horns from an oriental dragon recently.

You can try that. Even with acetone and loving care, I couldn’t get it out of the hole of a gothic unicorn I repaired for Arlla. Windstone uses an epoxy based glue for securing the horns, special ordered, and it’s strong as all heck and bonds with the gypsum. Good luck, but just know that it may be impossible without causing more damage. 🙁

I tried scraping it out with a tweezers. I got some out, but not all. Sometimes you get lucky and the clumps come out.

When I got my black male unicorn and his horn was loose I was able to gently pry it out and then I used tweezers to remove the glue from the socket.

When you go to put the horn back in pay attention to the shape of the hole and the base of the horn as the horn is shaped to fit one way, but can sometimes be inserted the wrong way as well. On my black male the top of his hole was wider than the bottom. I can’t take pictures of it anymore because I reattached the horn using a small amount of apoxie sculpt.
