I was over at a friend’s house today getting some wood laying around their property when I noticed something gold in the mud.

I investigated…turned out to be a full sized pendant with jade, coral and a genuine opal in the center all set in gold, with the pendant loop for a chain still attached.

Jeff said I could keep it. Astounding! It’s old, definately antique and has to be worth something and he just gave it to me. Cool!

I’ll take a few pics here in a bit, but what a neat thing.

Here it is. Kinda neat. I wonder how old it is and what it might be worth, just out of curiosity.

        Anyway, it’s pretty.

It’s lovely! I’m so glad you found it and got it out of the mud before the stones got ruined! They are all relattively fragile and somewhat porous. Good for you! 🙂

Cool! Take it to a jewlry store and get it appraised.
Let us know how many thousands it’s worth!

Do you have a magnifying glass or a jewlers loupe? Clean it very carefully because opal is extremely fragile and easy to crack. Once it’s clean, give it a very close inspection on the back and sides on the gold. Sometimes the manufacturers stamped or etched their pieces with the companies logo. If you can find it, then google the logo and see what you come up with. Their are tons of sites on line for vintage and antique jewelry and lots of good books on the same topic. Hit your library; most books on jewelry are found in the ‘collectibles’ category. Good luck! I’d love to know more about your lovely piece!

                    twindragonsmum 😀 (yes, I’m a research geek… 😀 )
