My husband needs to quit working for my brother. Long story, but basically it is not working out.
Problem is, husband doesn’t want togo out and find a new job, he wants one handed to him on a silver platter. On top of that, he wants them to pay him what “he” thinks he’s worth. When we lived in Calif, he had a good job that paid about $18 an hour, equivalent here is about $12 an hour, and he can get that. Problem is, he thinks he should be getting that $18 an hour here…no way is it gonna happen.
So he’s gonna be a prima donna and just piss and moan and not even try if he can’t have what he wants. Meanwhile, my brother is not being a good employer and is being an even worse brother in law. I’m about ready to have it out with him too!
Me, I’m at the end of my rope and about ready to commit homicide. Though I should wait until I can get life insurance on him that will at least pay off the house and cover the funeral first. 😉
Anyway, I just needed to vent. But this situation is unacceptable, and my husband’s attitude and additional pissing and moaning is just not helping.

Depending on your skill sets, most jobs around here pay at least $9 to $10, starting with benefits.
Also the cost of living here is relatively low, and we have all four seasons, and gorgous rivers and lakes. I love Idaho, I really do.
So come on over, we’d love to have ya!

February 22, 2008 at 2:57 am #668244*hugs* Sorry to hear it, Kyrin. My husband’s in a slightly similar situation – working for my step-father. He’s debating quitting, which might make the family dynamic a little odd. Quitting a job is always hard, especially if family is involved.
I hope it all works out!February 22, 2008 at 3:02 am #668245Oh my I will keep the wages here to myself, or your hubby might pack you up and move you here, LOL.

benefits?
here you hardly ever get those….I think I might really need to look into moving there…. 😯
February 22, 2008 at 3:42 am #668247Frozen- TX is generally a bad state to work in. Weird laws, and it’s a ‘right to work’ state. 🙁 I know, I worked there for many years and it sucked. I made minimum wage the entire time I was there.
Good luck Kyrin! My husband is fighting tooth and nail for any job- has been since November. No one is giving him one. 🙁

yeah I know….
it’s a big mess…I can’t wait to get out of the state…
and amarillo’s unemployment rate is 5.5% that’s pretty bad considering the population…
February 22, 2008 at 3:51 am #668249Yeah but Ruff only if they don’t know how high the price of living is!!! Or how hard it is to get a place to live!! I’ve been told that Ft.Mac is far worse than Edmonton!! If I was able to Work Full time, I’d just barely make rent, and no other bills, umm at least until my lease is up in May, then I’d be clearing at least $100 a month less!! Thank the Gods that the Male Works to cover rent, and I’m trying to cover the rest, don’t do so well some months but not too bad.
February 22, 2008 at 3:57 am #668250I was looking at employment rates…and cost of living figures last night online…
and it listed education levels….and median income and all kinds of interesting stuff…
and amarillo was horrible on median income…the highest percent of the population had either not completed 9th grade…not had completed 9th grade but didn’t make it to 12th…
and median income was lower than a lot of other places in the state….
it was all kind of encouraging me more that it’s time to find a diff place to live…. 😯 🙁
February 22, 2008 at 4:00 am #668251It is, but I get paid 20 bucks an hour to desk jockey, I was offered 17 to do night audit, my friends hubby is a welder he is over 50 an hour, if you buy a home and you bot are able to work it is actually pretty easy to do, I own a 40,000 dollar car he has an 80,000 dollar truck and we just bought a 20,000 dollar holiday trailer, if you are smart enough to manage money it is totally doable, and very comfortable living, as long as -40 doesnt bother you, LMAO. Everything people hear about Fort McMurray is bad, and so few are willing to even try it out, I however love it here.
Here is my plase last night, I was going to put them in the Spring thread, but meh:
Here are some I took last summer:
February 22, 2008 at 4:11 am #668252I like the snow pics. I love the snow but back here it will snow for a full day completely covering the ground, and it will all melt the next day. 🙁 That’s not even enough time to get sledding!!!
My most wanted list: carnelian mouse wizard, copper patina frog wizard, autumn leaf poads, pumpkin spice kitties
February 22, 2008 at 4:18 am #668253Lol @ -40
I’ve become a “Winter Wuss” Since moving out here, I don’t like below -15 anymore, Umm but then again I currently have to wear those GD Crocs year round with out socks so as to try and get something to frickin heal, and ’cause until it does it also hurts too much to put anything narrower on. Used to go out in -20 in shorts and a t-shirt. and Break out the winter Jacket at -60. Though after Gym/Soccer tournaments I could be found walking home in “Gym Clothes” in -50, much to my Gym Teachers horror!!! 😈 😈
February 22, 2008 at 5:23 am #668254Sorry to hear of your troubles Kyrin. How is your brother in law being a bad employer? Does he pay the $18?
It’s tough when family is involved.
My husband has his own company. His brother started the same type company a couple hours north of us. Problem is, he doesn’t know jack about computer stuff and the jobs he gets, Mike has to complete for him.
So Mike has to clear the day for his bro. Does bro pay him what he’s losing by helping? Nope 👿And brrrr. -40? Nothing is worth that! 😆 Sunny California for me!
