I was thinking about it, but some of my Family’s favourite foods sound “Gross” if you think about it, but are really tasty if you eat it so I was just wondering what you guys have that gets that reaction when it’s said.
Scrunchions- These are litterally diced pieces of Salted Pork fat Fried up, usually they and their Grease are poured over fish & brewis(Which isn’t really all that odd, it’s literally fish and a Dried hard Biscuit/bread boiled to soften it)
Chicken Hearts & Gravy- Take chicken Hearts Fry them up (My mom uses an electric fry pan we use a Wok) once safely fried make a gravy in the pan with the drippings and hearts. Poor over preferred Starch. I prefer French fries done in the deep fryer, but we don’t have one, So I use Mashed potatoes or Rice and Corn. High in Fat, but even better by way of Vitamin C and Iron!! Nom nom nom (Actually this is my absolute fav food in the world!!!)
A similar “Poor man’s” version of that is to use Ground beef instead, but that HAS to go on Fries!!

Grilled PB and J sandwiches
I’ll see if I can think of any more…. π
February 11, 2008 at 1:25 am #663648Oh…um…a dish I call Roadkill Hash….cause it looks so gross on the plate, but tastes good….It has a base layer of hashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, onions and sausage. Fried up together and dumped on your plate. Then you put shredded cheese over it.
February 12, 2008 at 5:19 pm #663649My husbands family has a dish called “pineapple cheese salad” It looks a little weird but is heavenly…. it’s got crushed pineapple, sharp grated cheddar cheese, walnuts and whipped cream. YUM!

February 12, 2008 at 5:43 pm #663650My mom brought back the idea from a vacation somewhere down South:
Bananas, a mix of chicken, onions and mushrooms, covered in tomato sauce. Baked in the oven, it’s really good.
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

February 12, 2008 at 7:29 pm #663653My Dad used to put oil and vinegar on his pizza. My Uncle Tom (his brother) used to eat crumb buns with Salami and butter. My husband eats peanut butter and pickle sandwiches. Those may not qualify as gross, but they’re def. weird. π
February 12, 2008 at 9:40 pm #663654Pig skins… The whole idea is so disgusting but I cant stop eating them. I got that way about bacon for about a week. I couldnt get over the fact that it was pig skin. I did manage to get past that horrific phase, and now I can eat my bacon sandwiches, bacon pie, bacon pizza, bacon soup…

So are you saying that bacon is pig skin π I know it’s not but the wording is a bit confusing. π

Yes, here in the Southern USA they are very popular. So are chicken feet. I have never tried them myself
February 13, 2008 at 2:45 pm #663658π― π― π― Chicken’s feet? Doesnt seem like there’d be much meat on either of those……What’s the appeal?

I don’t know, but according to folks who eat them they boil em and eat em. I didn’t ask if that meant bone and all or just the bits of meat. I’d still pick either of those over Chitlins π
