We had lots of rain and lost most of the snow we had and some of you know we got more then 4 feet of it.
Now it is almost all bare everywhere but now the water is rising and I’m waterfront…also I got stuck on the way home smack in the middle of a flooded road! The engine stalled and would not even turn. A neighbor came to my rescue by bringing me water boots so I could get out of the car. Meanwhile the car was flooding and I ended up with 5 inches of water in the car. Also it was time for my son to arrive home from school but the vehicle that carries him is very low to the ground so he could not pass either. A friend arrived just in time for him to put my son in his truck and the wheelchair in the back of it. Then picked me up and drove me home. Thank god for friends. I called a towtruck and the guy told me the motor was done that because it was hot and I drove in cold water it must have blowned the motor. Well you can imagine how I reacted to this…

Total panic! The car arrived home, still would not start…I played with the wires and plugs for a while then tried it again…and voila! It started! I let it run for about 45 minutes and it looks fine…hopefully… What an afternoon.

Here is a picture of the road in the morning by afternoon the water got so high it was at almost mid-door level of my little station. But the level of the water is very hard to judge unless you are right in it. I found out later that some guy had the same problem later on this evening.
PS: the water level was not high in the picture taken. Not yet anyway

        >_< Ouch. Gotta hate those high water levels. It flooded so badly here in my neighborhood when I was little that me and some friends paddled a canoe down the middle of our street 😆 Maybe you could try that.

I’m glad at least that your car seems to be okay, BDW!

😯 Oi!!! 😯 I sure hope your car is okay! I’m glad you and Michel didn’t have more trouble…. and yes, thank goodness for neighbors! We had another 2 feet of snow in the last 36 hours and I’m starting to worry about what happens when it starts to thaw out. With my luck we’ll be washed right off the hillside and down into the marsh. BDW, you won’t have to evacuate will you? *crosses fingers, toes and eyes so you don’t have to!*

            You are under avalanche alert??!!!!
OK maybe I wont move in after all…just go for summer visits. I hope we don’t have to evacuate. And I hope you don’t have to either. 🙁

Not yet… but it makes me think twice about hiking the hill in the backyard! You could still move here, were only on alert because we’re on the hillside. Most of the people on the street aren’t under alert because they don’t live by a slope 😀

sounds like a VERY scary afternoon though

Eek! Glad you and Michael got through that mess okay and that your car isn’t dead.

Twindragonsmom….eek! I hope the snow doesn’t fall on your house! I wanna see you and the boys in April! Make everyone take off their shoes and tell the boys, no roughhousing or loud noises…with luck the snow will just melt quietly.

We got our snow, about a foot of it, in one day! Insane. Driving in it has been oh so fun, not!

Today I got the front CV joint replaced so I can now safely use 4WD without worry. And I also got new all terrain tires for the rear, and since I couldn’t afford all 4, had the front tires siped. Drove around a bit today after they did all that, definately an improvement in traction! Yay!

The tires I had before were simply street tires, with narrow ribs, meaning water and snow really didn’t clear off, snow just impacted and made them into slicks, bad thing.

So now I am safer, considering that it is going to freeze tonight and I have to drive down a 6% grade to get to work, more traction is a good thing, I’m gonna need it!

Everybody, please stay safe. We’ve had rain the past couple of days and today was very windy. I hope this weird weather settles soon.

I’m glad you and your son are safe, BDW, and that the truck is running again. I hope it stays that way! Good luck.

I’ll be thinking good thoughts for all of you! To me, snow is pretty to look at, but that’s about it!

I’m so glad the cars okay! We’ve lost 99% of snow here luckally nothing is overflowing. I’m by a stream but, I’ve never seen the water get anywhere over a few feet.

This is the strangest winter I’ve ever seen. I don’t like it at all. I haven’t been able to get out on my skiis yet. (Even though there was at least one day that I could have. I was just too tired.)

Eek! Always be careful driving through water, even if you have a truck or a vehicle that can handle it. Especially in moving water (such as a creek washing over a road). Pieces of the road can wash away or break off, creating very deep holes that can stall your vehicle in a deep puddle, or worse. That’s how people in those ‘most amazing rescues’ videos end up like that!

We got the same as you Jasmine and that made the snow melt to fast and as a result it created floods everywhere.

I am really glad that your car started again! I hope EVERYONE will be safe, and that no one will have to evacuate their homes or anything.
