I keep looking at this girl, and thinking she is very old and rare. What do you guys think?

Yeah, I agree about the shipping, but if she goes for pretty cheap, it would still be worthwhile.
I think I am going to ask if she has felt, if she doesn’t, then we’ll know she’s old.

December 2, 2007 at 11:44 pm #641536LOL…I drove through Rockwall TX last week….
but yeah $27 for shipping sounds high….
good luck…
December 2, 2007 at 11:54 pm #641537Not sure if I am gonna go after her, it all depends on another auction I’m fighting for.

December 3, 2007 at 12:21 am #641538I think she’s an older momma, though not as old as some that we’ve seen come through the “Ask Melody” forum. She’s pretty!

I saw this one, really nice, orig what I wanted but opted to get a Peacock Mother instead and one is good enough for me.. 😉
Is the lack of a felt bottom a good indicator of age ? What if it just came off or something ?
The Brown Male I just won Friday says he has no felt bottom….anyway, aren’t the pieces dated ?
December 3, 2007 at 3:38 am #641540Good luck Kyrin if you should try for her! She looks lovely!

Some of the older pieces don’t always have felt, but are stamped on the bottom of the piece. It is possible for the felt to have been lost or damaged.

Not exactly. The date on Melody’s pieces is the date on the sculpture that was used to make the master casting (ie. finished) (someone correct me if I got the terminology incorrect… it’s been a long day :P). So, if you were to buy a hatching dragon, it will have a date of 1984 on it, irregardless of what color or year you bought it. Some special or very limited pieces might be signed with a date on the bottom, but that is different.
December 3, 2007 at 4:07 am #641541I love all that darker green ^_^
December 3, 2007 at 4:10 am #641542Yes, that looks like one of the first mother in green they used to do.
December 3, 2007 at 4:18 am #641543I love her coloring. I need a dad and young with that kind of paint job.

Thanks for the info ! So if you don’t have a piece in hand it’s kind of hard to tell I guess.
December 3, 2007 at 6:21 am #641545Her green patterning is very pretty.
December 3, 2007 at 7:54 am #641546I don’t think she’s the older nonfelt one. I just sold my green mom that was chipped on Ebay, and she looks just like this one with alot of browns. Really pretty. Mine had felt underneath…so not THAT old…Hmmm…I might go after her…or the male…
