In order to not clutter the forum, I have two questions so they get to go in the same topic.
Wolf Griffins:
Melody, any imput on this?:
I don’t own but one of the Wolf griffins YET (only the sitting chick) but I’ve seen pictures of the male and mother, and I don’t think they look much like they’re supposed to
as opposed to….
Taken from eBay
Taken from Astral Castle. The way they really are looks very pale and glossy in comparaison. Like maybe some of the subtle tones in the test family have gone. (Although maybe its the photos?) Or, are they supposed to be this way?

Test Paint Kirins:
I noticed the Kirin in your gallery has blue eyes and the one that sold has brown. Were the blue eyes not attatched, or is there a second, blue eyed one?
Also, will there just be the silver and the white, or have you guys found more Kirins? 😀November 29, 2007 at 9:14 am #493470November 29, 2007 at 10:24 am #640717I think it is the lighting and the pictures, because even the eyes look yellow but I know they are green.
November 29, 2007 at 3:11 pm #640718It may very well be the photos. If you study them you’ll notice the first one has studio lighting, which brings out contrast and depth to all the details on the pieces. The other photos look to have been taken with a flash, from the front, which always washes out detail and color and makes things look more glossy than usual.

I found this out through alot of trial and error myself…with pyos. Since then I’ve set up a mini “photo studio” with flourescent lighting and I dont use the flash, it really helps with color accuracy and detail. Sometimes the wrong lighting can totally transform a photo. 🙂 I’m personally hoping that silver ki-rin goes on ebay, I really want him but doubt he’ll go for a price I can afford…nonetheless, I’ll probably try for him. 😀 I hope he keeps the dark brown eyes though….preeetty…

The difference is partly lighting, part just being different. The production ones have sharper striping. I painted those photo samples, so the production ones will look a little bit different. The production ones do seem to have less subtle shading from the stripes to the body. The ebay photos look like they are lacking antique! But that is the lighting. Yes, they may be glossier. Controlling the gloss of the finish is about the hardest thing to do around here.

I have a few of these around, I think this is the same kirin that was in my gallery, since I think there was just one pearl white one, (there are two silver ones). This pearl one had no eyes, but I may of stuck a blue one in for the photo.Quote:Also, will there just be the silver and the white, or have you guys found more Kirins? 😀
There are paint sample kirins everywhere. I know there are two silver ones, and a few other dark colored male kirins.(one of those should be going on ebay today) I have a herd of the females too, but I need to keep them ’till I figure out the color scheme I am working on.
November 29, 2007 at 7:42 pm #640722Yay! I may get a kirin yet! 😀

November 29, 2007 at 9:14 pm #640724ooohh…I may just still be able to get one? I sure hope you hold off on putting some of them up until tax return time.
Kyrin
November 29, 2007 at 10:40 pm #640725Would love to see darker (production, hopefully as I’ll never afford an ebay one) Kirin color scheme and get away from the white. Ive said it many times, Im not much of a Windstone white lover on anything. I prefer darker, more dramatic and also shading. Dont get me wrong however, I find everything Windstone does to be superior to anything else out there. It’s just personal preference.

December 5, 2007 at 10:51 pm #640727Will the second silver Koi Kirin be sold soon after this one? Or will it be a few weeks?
December 5, 2007 at 11:36 pm #640728I’m hoping for a production Ki-Rin, as I’ll never be able to afford anything from ebay.
December 6, 2007 at 4:56 am #640729Awwwww, I was hoping for another white koi kirin *pout*
