Well, stupid me. I was running late for work this morning. I got to work, bought my lunch. Realised that I was overcharged but, didn’t have time to fix it.

I ran upstairs threw my coat and tote on a hanger and ran down to the office. So anyways, after work (which was a trial as always) I ran upstairs grabbed my coat and tote, went out to the staff lounge and tried to find my bus pass. Well, I can’t find it anywhere. So, went to my locker, no bus pass. Now you need to know this to understand just how big a problem this is. My buss pass had everything in it. Visa, HBC credit card, debit, drivers licence, etc. Plus the bus pass itself is more than $60.00.

So I’m offically freaked. I run downstairs, wait for the HR to get off the phone and tell her that my stuff was stollen. Our loss prevention wasn’t answering our pages. So I went up to the service desk, since I needed to start cancelling my cards. Of course the visa is new so I don’t have the # down for that one. So I cancelled my HBC, and went back up to the front to talk to the Service Supervisor. She had a brillent idea. So she called HBC to see if she could get information about it being used. It was, just before I went to lunch someone charged $10.00 to the card. So then I found out that the loss prevention officer was looking for me, so I went back to talk to this person.

I was telling her what happened and I realised that (duh) there are two inside pockets. My buss pass was in the second pocket. Now if I didn’t find out that someone had used my card, I would have felt like an idiot. (I still did, but, at least I knew that someone used it!) So, happy to know it’s back, I go to the bank and see if the visa was used. It wasn’t but, I decided to play it safe and cancel it as well.

Well, now I think I’m going to throw up. I feel awfull. I can’t believe someone would do that. At least I have them back, and they didn’t cause that much damage to my accounts.

You mean to say, they went in your pocket, used the card for 10 bucks then put it back? How strange… and stupid!

And the worst thing is that this is someone who works with you. It can’t be a customer; they wouldn’t have put it back 🙁

      This sucks!

Yeah, they went to great lengths to make it look like it wasn’t used. If they had put it in the right pocket, I wouldn’t have known. The other thing is, I had $10.00 in the buss pass, they didn’t take it.

So obviously, they think that they have gotten away with it.

I don’t think they went to all that effort for $10. I think they had more in mind. I bet if you hadn’t noticed, they would be back tomorrow looking to “borrow” it again. 👿

it is a good thing they did put it in the wrong pocket and that you were able to have it checked to see if a charge was made . That probly was a test to see if you would notice…if you had not noticed, they may have tried it again later with an even bigger charge.

We have 3 refrigerators at work. Not only do bag lunches come up missing sometimes, but we’ve had incidents of employees finding their tupperware (or similar container) still in the refrigerator, but the leftovers they brought from home in it, are gone.

          Jiminy Christmas…

Why would you steal someone else’s *food*?

When I worked retail, people stole my food ALL the time, until finally I resorted to taking a non-perishable item, such as a bagel, and hiding it in my coat so I’d have something to eat. 🙁

              I haven’t had that problem at Penney’s…

              Wow.

The food stealing thing has happened at my work, but not to me personally.

We also had some bozos on the night shift tilting the vending machines and dumping out the food in those. That went on for a couple of weeks until the management had the brillant idea to bolt the vending machine to the coke machine next to it. The combined weight was too much for our thieves and they finally stopped. But the vendor lost about $350 worth of product before it was over, which I am sure my company had to reimburse. We almost lost the vending machine altogether, they were really close to taking it out.

People steal money and other items regularly. My first week I wore a leather jacket to work, it was stolen immediately. Three weeks later the thief must have thought I’d forgotten about it, and wore it to work and hung it up with the other jackets. I saw it, grabbed it and now it doesn’t go to work anymore. Least I got it back, but I don’t think the thief planned that.

Now I don’t take anything of value to work, everything stays locked in the car. With 180 employees wandering in and out of the employee lounge and lockerrooms, it’s just too damn easy for thieves. Sad though, to know that some of the folks I work with are dishonest, makes you wonder who.

              Wow.

I personally would be scarred to eat someone else’s food…God only knows how old the left overs are or how they cooked it…YUCK!!! One of the guys I works with keeps left overs up to 3 (YES, THREE) weeks and still eats them……GROSS!

So if you have a problem with food stealing perhaps you all could put something disgusting in your tupperware and bring it to work 🙂

This is what I was thinking too. 👿

The lunch stealing happened all the time when I worked in the hospital lab. It was one of the lab employees, but we never could figure out who… 👿
