I would love to see costumes and pumkins, etc. I am the same thing I was last year (You can check out this thread, Pg. 3 if you are interested.) Here is Justins costume. So… trick or treating? Handing out candy? Dont participate?
October 21, 2007 at 10:21 am #628237Nobody comes to my appartment building. 😕 And I don’t have any kids so, I get a quiet evening at home. And a hectic day at work. 😆
October 21, 2007 at 2:14 pm #628238My daughter picked a fancy purple and sparkly witch costume. She’ll be bare-faced at school, then in the evening, I’ll make her face up. I love doing makeup. I’ll be walking around with her; I rather do that than give candy. Don’t know why. I won’t be dressing up, though.
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I host the feedback lists, which are maintained by drag0nfeathers.

October 21, 2007 at 5:31 pm #628240Dang girl1 You sure get into Halloween! I love it! As for me, I cant find my costume. I am totally bummed, esp since I had two expensive cloaks that went with it and they have dissapeared, too. I checked the whole basement, and nothing! 🙁
October 21, 2007 at 7:16 pm #628241We haven’t had trick-or-treaters for years, which is really a shame. I love Halloween! This year I’m going to put up floating jack-o’-lanterns at least. I have a couple of huge hairy spiders–somewhere–in black and purple plush. And during school I picked up my favorite ghoulish decoration when they cleaned out the Bone Barn. A friend and I went dumpster diving; she got a small seal skeleton, and I found a horse skull. 😈 You can put a bunch of glow sticks in it and it looks REALLY COOL. Now if I could just figure out a way to make it flicker!
October 21, 2007 at 7:24 pm #628242Ha, my favotite time of year. I was thinking about a clown maybe. Not sure but I’ll have lots of blood 😆
October 21, 2007 at 7:25 pm #628243I decorate and do a few pumpkins. I have costumes but really haven’t dressed up for years. We don’t get many trick-or-treaters, maybe a dozen, but I still make up little treat bags and wait! 😀 Loooove Halloween!
October 21, 2007 at 7:53 pm #628244I like to decarate the inside of my house more than the outside… I have a few outside…
Not going to carve any pumpkins until its closer to Halloween…

That’s a shame!!! I wonder where they could’ve gone…. 😕
October 22, 2007 at 2:53 am #628246Over the years, I made a lot of costumes for Sci Fi Conventions. Not for the competitions, just for wearing during the convention. So I have a closetful of odds and ends that I can usually find something to throw together for Halloween.
Last year (at work), I was sort of a punky bad fairy. Punky pigtail wig, black wings, purple & black striped stockings, black boots and gold & purple dress outfit in plus size. I decorated my office with a crystal ball (12″ gazing ball from my garden), all sorts of real books that had ‘magical names” (Magyck, Dragonolgy, How to be a Bad Witch, etc), a 3ft tall dragon claw that had a large magic book on it (it held candy and when you opened the book, it talked back) and other assorted mystical things.
This year (at work) I’m going with easy and comfortable. Using a caftan style black and purple floor-length robe (was a wizard costume), a purple and black witch hat, the gloves from last year’s bad fairy and I bought some shoe covers that make my shoes look like the curled up toes of the wicked witch of the west’s shoes. At work, I’ve had a few people stop in my office and ask why I didn’t have my office decorated yet. I’m just too worn out this year to go all out like I did last year. I do have a cauldron by my door with candy in it. It has a motion sensor that activates a witch’s voice when you reach for the candy.
I usually get home too late to pass out candy, but I keep a bowl of candy by the door just in case.
October 22, 2007 at 5:13 am #628247Wow, star! You put alot of effort into that! I sure love your yard. 😆
We don’t do much, since Halloween is hardly a Swiss holiday. But Mom and I usually put together a party with various junk foods that we don’t usually eat, and I have something written that I read to the boys. I finished the story I read over the past 10 years though, so I don’t know what we’ll do this year.October 22, 2007 at 5:04 pm #628248Nice yard, star!!
We started decorating our yard, but haven’t put up the lights yet. We have strings of skulls and bats. The kids will carve pumpkins. We always hand out candy, but never have enough kids come by. 😥
We have “Halloween” decorations year round here. On our porch we have a hanging light with dragon heads, a skeleton in a cage, a hanging rubber bat, a gargoyle statue by the front door and a gargoyle plaque above it that says “Unwelcomed”. Our door mat says, “GO AWAY”. My mailbox is the huge old fashioned kind. It’s painted black with bone numbers and has foam sticker ghosts and spiderwebs on it. A little girl (maybe 8 years old) came around selling candles in early October. After I bought one, she said, “I love your Halloween decorations!”. 😆
Edit: There are a few quick pictures here. Don’t mind the mess…I am inside playing around instead of out there sweeping, etc. 😆
October 22, 2007 at 5:55 pm #628249I’d be doing more for Halloween, but it’s a deployment year so most of the families have gone home. For Gavin’s first Halloween (also a deployment year) I dressed him up as a lion. He didn’t wear the costume long as it was a little warm for the weather. My friend Mary is holding him. She was dressed as a CanCan Dancer. We had maybe 4 kids come by.
Last year I got Gavin a Halloween shirt rather than a costume. It has a dancing skeleton and says “Just Rattling By.” Since it wasn’t a deployment year we had more kids come by, maybe 20-30.
I got him another shirt for Halloween this year. I haven’t decided if I’m going to carve a pumpkin or not. I do have a sign hanging on my front door that says Happy Halloween.
