Why is it so hard to come up with girl names?! Hubby is nagging me to start picking out names for the baby and I just can’t seem to find one that I really like. I’ve looked at all the baby name sites but I keep getting all the same names. I want something that isn’t very common but not so odd that she will be made fun of. So far this is what I’ve come up with….
Kylie
Cailin
Alyssa
Janis (after my late grandmother)
Hailey
Shannon
Cydney
Why are boys names sooo much easier to come up with π‘October 8, 2007 at 8:51 pm #492911October 8, 2007 at 8:55 pm #624500I’d tell you the one I have picked out but you have to promise to spell them different or something π
Girl:
Tasha Caylee Smith
Kayla Ashley SmithBoy:
William Jared Smith
William Gareth SmithThe boy’s names all have to start with William, family tradition on his side…but we’d be calling him by his middle name anyways.
October 8, 2007 at 9:01 pm #624501Well, I like Janis, but there’s also Genesis, Autumn, and Jordan. you could also puruse other countries names. From Japanese I like Hikari and Sakura. I’d have a much harder time finding boy names.
Good luck, picking a name can be difficult.
October 8, 2007 at 9:15 pm #624502My husband wants to stick with either celtic or italian names. He is hell bent on the name Janis but I can’t think of a middle name to go with it. Maybe Janis Kylie Kutrick, I don’t know π₯

October 8, 2007 at 11:58 pm #624505I’ve always loved the name Amanda, but the only middle name we could think of that flowed was Lynn. I couldn’t name my daughter AmandaLynn π
So we got Ashley Marie instead. After the whole kindergarten thing, looking back we should have picked something like Amy or Jill.
Something easy to write! My kids were not gifted in the hand writing category πOctober 9, 2007 at 1:54 am #624506I like Bridget, Kaylee, Fiona Rose, Samantha, and Rosia. I also like Kylie. I’m sure you’ll come up with something pretty.
October 9, 2007 at 3:12 am #624507Just because I am a romantic…the movie Ladyhawke with Rutger Hauer and Matthew Broderick …the lead female “Lady” was called :
Isabeau…how romantic
Also Isabella, Isabelle, Elizabeth, Elizabetha, Victoria…
I really like the names of Old World Queens…What a name to hand down….maybe medieval and maybe old world, but still romantic and traditional after all these centuries….
Also most can be shortened for nicknames….
Issa, Izzy, Lizzy, Lizza, Lizabetha, Lisbeth, Ellie, Vickie,
These are all very feminine….good luck!!!

October 9, 2007 at 5:00 am #624509I agree that boys names are easier to come up with. Why is that? π My husband & I also wanted names of celtic origin to go with our last name which is Campbell. We came up with these:
Annwyn
Aislinn
Aine – pronounced AHnya
Brenna
Eden
Fiona
Fawn
Gillian
Moira
Reaghan
Rowan
Rory
Siobhan – pronounced Shivawn
TeaganWe wound up with twin boys Ethan Ian & Sean Colin; no girls & unable to have any more children.
Love my boys! πHope this helps!

Bronwen – means Brown haired I belive
Arianwen – means White haired I believe
both are Welsh and pronounced the way they are spelled
I can hunt through my Celtic language book if you’d like πOctober 9, 2007 at 5:55 am #624511Avalon is celtic. :O
I’m too sleepy to really think right now..
October 9, 2007 at 3:05 pm #624512Those celtic names are so nice!
Personal pet peeve: When people take a ‘normal’ or common/conventional name and intentionally spell it weird to make it unique. They’re not making it unique- it sounds the same- they’re just making sure that it will always get spelled wrong and confuse people! π
