hey there! just sending a red flag up for folks looking for a unicorn gargoyle! i had a listing last week run for one of these guys as you may remember, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160161401162
and this new turkey stole my pics! http://cgi.ebay.com/Windstone-Editions-Pena-Rare-Retired-Unicorn-Gargoyle_W0QQitemZ220157921651QQihZ012QQcategoryZ10862QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
anyhoo, bottom line is if you are looking for one, that is NOT the uni you will be getting, its mine and is already in its new home in washington state. i reported them to ebay and we will see if they can do anything, as the pics are misleading and just plain uncool to steal pics. i didn’t put a watermark on my pics which i should have and will do from now on, i just didn’t think about it…i worried more about it for pyos..but still i took them myself of the actual item.
not to mention they say you can put it outdoors which we all know is false! duh!
anyway, i just wanted to warn you guys that that isn’t the actual uni and they used my pics without my permission, so who knows what it really looks like or how its damage is….October 7, 2007 at 6:28 pm #492894October 7, 2007 at 6:44 pm #624214Sorry that happened tfs! Those are really good photos, and that’s probably why they took them. But you’re right… those photos do not accurately identify the piece they have in their possesion. I hate it when they steal photos from other people’s auctions! Get your own photos why don’t ya!!! 😡
October 7, 2007 at 6:46 pm #624215Ugh, another kaleeker. 😕
October 7, 2007 at 6:56 pm #624216oh nooooooooo and it has a bid! by a lady that bid on my original one!! i hope she doesn’t think its the same auction again!! 😯 help!!!! gah!! they bid hard on mine and i’d hate to see them be dissappointed with what they get, or this its me!! 😯
October 7, 2007 at 7:06 pm #624217Oh that is just wrong! Maybe their piece isn’t in as great shape as yours OR they don’t have a way to take pics… (some poeple just don’t have a digital camera yet) BUT that doesn’t give them the right to snag your pictures!
Sorry that it happened! 🙁
October 7, 2007 at 7:11 pm #624218Ebay will pull the auction, since the person stole your pictures, so the person bidding will not have to worry about it. Just give Ebay a day or two, and the auction will be removed and the seller warned. As long as you told them, they will take care of it. It happened to me before. That’s how we got the word “Kaleeking” (the thief’s Ebay name), meaning the stealing of pictures on an Ebay auction.
October 7, 2007 at 7:30 pm #624219I thought those pics looked familiar.
I guess that’s a risk you run when you take great pictures, TF! 😛October 7, 2007 at 7:38 pm #624220ahhhhhhhh phew! thanks guys for the support! good to hear emerald that ebay will come to the rescue, even if someone bid, big sigh of relief over here!! sorry you had someone take your pics! i remember very well now when that happened!! ol’ kaleeking! what a worm! lol!
i didn’t know what they would do once a bidder was involved, but then again that is the most important time to do something, to protect the buyer from getting something that isn’t the exact item. i have sympathy for people without cameras, (but honestly if you are selling on ebay you NEED one), but often peeps just borrow from an official site like astral castle, with daves’ permission first, since he has such a great reference site.
more than anything i would hate for someone to spend big (or any) money on something that would not look the same or be in the same condition. i bought some sculptures back in the day on ebay that claimed they were the same as the pic and weren’t… i really waffled between several different pieces to get one with the perfect finish for where it was going and it arrived totally different! gah! i had to repaint the piece and rework the detail (covered in plaster chunks and pitting) but that was a really extreme case….but anyhoo, i’d just hate for anyone to be misled and then feel like a monkey…October 7, 2007 at 8:39 pm #624221Ebay in general is pretty good at making sure you can have positive transactions, at least in the situations where they CAN intervene…they cant do much about crappy shipping sadly, but it is a great place to find all kinds of stuff.
October 8, 2007 at 12:55 pm #624222The auction’s been pulled and it’s been relisted with new pictures. There is damage to the Unicorn that she didn’t mention before. It’s a good thing you told Ebay about the pics. http://cgi.ebay.com/Windstone-Editions-M-Pena-Rare-Unicorn_W0QQitemZ220158323494QQihZ012QQcategoryZ10862QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
October 8, 2007 at 1:00 pm #624223I’m glad ebay intervened. It really burns me when people try that stuff in the first place though… 👿
October 8, 2007 at 1:13 pm #624224Yeah, well, hopefully it’ll reflect in the lack of bids on her auction.
October 8, 2007 at 1:19 pm #624225Definately. Their actions have showed them up as a dishonest cheater straight off. Pttttp! on them. 👿
October 8, 2007 at 6:39 pm #624226I asked this seller the following question yesterday:
‘Are these pictures taken of the actual unicorn I would get? They are not taken from another unicorn that is identical? Awaiting your reply, thank you’
This is what he had to say:
‘I could only find one rate to Canaca (see previous question in the listing) As you can see I have added pictures of the actual unicorn you would get. The revise your item option wouldn’t let me delete the first pictures.’ -
