I have noticed that some of you have taken out the eyes on the dragons when you paint them, How do you do that??? π
Thanks!
September 29, 2007 at 11:36 pm #622044Please don’t try to remove the eyes from your sculptures! It can easily break the sockets very badly. If you really need to know, I think koishiikitty can help you, and you can PM her. We would rather not have discussion on eye removal methods here for copyright/protection reasons, please. π

Will do. And sorry about that. π copyright didn’t even cross my mind when I asked… plus with the question of removing the horns on unicorns… Oops!
Learn something new everyday!!! π
Ok here is a much better question… I want to put a pearl spray as a finishing touch on a piece… How would I protect the eyes so that they don’t also get sprayed???
Thanks
September 30, 2007 at 12:38 am #622046Check out the PYO facts under the same Paint-Your-Own Windstone forum. Look under the section that talks about masking fluid. You paint it over the eyes, then remove it after you’re done.
September 30, 2007 at 12:44 am #622047There is also the PYO tutorial from Windstone
September 30, 2007 at 12:59 am #622048Thank you both for the link!
Good info! I think I might try to use the masking tape if I get brave enough to! lol π

It’s totally okay! π I wouldn’t think of these things myself if I didn’t work for Windstone, hehe! This is a public forum (anyone in the world can read it) and we don’t want to inadvertently make it easier for someone with malicious intent to rip off Windstone is all. π

My art: featherdust.comSeptember 30, 2007 at 4:32 pm #622050Taxidermy eye protect is awesome stuff and lasts near forever. I really like it actually. π You just dab it carefully on the eyes and then when your done just peel it off with a toothpick. π
September 30, 2007 at 8:07 pm #622051I can paint around the eyes with little to no problems, Spraying it makes me nervous! π I am trying to find something around the house to do a test spray first on to make sure I really want that kind of finish on my little PYO dragon!
Well I tested it and if I am going to use a pearly type of paint I am not going to need the spray since you won’t really be able to tell that it is there.
Maybe I’ll try another peice sometime in the future???
