Knowing how much I love dolphins, a friend of mine sent me this link. You can view the pictures here. What a sight this must be to see in person! 😀

September 28, 2007 at 8:10 pm #621621How cool, an albino dolphin! 😀
September 28, 2007 at 8:53 pm #621622So cute 😀 I wonder what the chances are of one being born that way?
September 28, 2007 at 10:15 pm #621623Is that real? It looks kind of photoshopped to me. o.o but wow, if it is real that’s so cool 😀
September 28, 2007 at 10:37 pm #621624Oh neat. I was going to say there are pink dolphins in China but, a pink dolphin born to a bottlenose. That is too cool.

Yep, it’s real! See here.
I think it’s really cool. There are other pink dolphins, like the Amazon River Dolphin & the pink (usu. adolescent) Chinese White Dolphin (or here), but to see an albino bottle-nose? Sweet. That man was lucky.

I checked with Snopes, he’s real.
They are extremely rare and most don’t make it to maturity. The albino gene affects their vision and resistance to sun exposure along with not being a very camoflaging color in the sea. So combining all those negatives, it isn’t surprising they don’t survive long. The one in the photos is a young dolphin according to the marine biologists who have followed up on this sighting.
Kinda neat to see, too bad they don’t usually survive, but it makes sense why not. He would probably do well in captivity, but as a wild dolphin, his days are probably numbered.
Ah well, darn Darwin and his survival of the fittest anyhow!

well all kinds of animals can be albinos, I saw a porcupine albino once on animal planet
not to mention humanity, I once saw a picture of an african baby boy with all phisical appearences of a black person ( the wildly curly hair and other appearences) but he was whiter than I am
