http://www.sarahjestin.com/feedbacklists.htmSeptember 22, 2007 at 8:55 pm #619530We just got a call from a lady at paypal, checking if the last transaction we made (she gave us the name and amount, which were right) was legit. She didn’t ask for our email address, account number, password or anything.
Anyone heard of that before?

September 22, 2007 at 9:14 pm #619532Me either, thats very odd.
You might want to contact Paypal and verify that they called and why.September 22, 2007 at 9:17 pm #619533Interesting. Well, they do have phone numbers. I know visa will call to verify a large transaction. They have never called me but, I have heard of it happening.
September 22, 2007 at 9:18 pm #619534i have not heard from Paypal but I heard from Patelco a couple years ago when I got e-bay happy and got the 3 23kt Gold Leaf ones and the Ruby and BG Famlies, I was very happy they verified
September 22, 2007 at 9:25 pm #619535Paypal did that to me not too long ago…they suspended the card and everything until I called and verified everything and all the purchases….
they didn’t have a current phone number or they would have called…
but they have a service…if you’ve used the account a lot…or have one large purchase they will call…and if they can’t get you they will suspend the account
but like Ravnheart said…I’d still call them…
it’s better to be safe than sorry..
September 22, 2007 at 11:44 pm #619536My husband got the lady’s name, the phone number and when we called back, it was paypal. Double-checked on their website; the numbers check out.
Funny thing is, the last transaction wasn’t that much. Each payment I had to make for my layaway for my gold emperor and empea male was bigger than that and they never called.
Just weird.

http://www.sarahjestin.com/feedbacklists.htmSeptember 23, 2007 at 12:02 am #619537Well good that it checked out. Who knows why, but its good they verify to make sure 🙂
September 23, 2007 at 7:25 am #619538I have never had that happen. Odd.
September 23, 2007 at 2:26 pm #619539It’s never happened to me either 😕
September 23, 2007 at 10:12 pm #619540Paypal did that to me about six months ago. The message said I was suspended until calling them. I did and everything was back to normal. (if there is such a thing)
September 23, 2007 at 11:20 pm #619541That’s just so weird 😕

yeah that’s how it was with me too….
and it was actually only over $8
LOL
September 24, 2007 at 4:48 am #619543I haven’t had this happen to me, but I’m not surprised they are doing it. I have received more phishing e-mails for PayPal in the last month than last year alone. They probably assume you won’t respond to a legit e-mail so now they call.
It is odd that they seem to be inconsistent about the transactions they call about. It might be just a check-up policy to get people to update contact information. At least they are being proactive.
