Hey hey! I am currently working on a project where I slather heavy gel medium onto the inside walls of glass jars, in a layer about .5-1cm thick, and it’s (unsurprisingly) taking a long time to dry. I was wondering if anyone knew a safe way to speed up the drying time? Would heat help? Like a hairdryer maybe? Any advice or thoughts would be most welcome ^_^
hair dryer is my thought….just from far away to keep it from smearing the paint…
Oh I wouldn’t be able to smear it with the hairdryer, the jar opening is too small LOL Thanks! π I’ve read that some people use heatguns to dry acrylic but I don’t have one at present.
I seem to recall that you can use a hairdryer on the COOL setting, but don’t go by me alone! Maybe a fan?
COOL thanks! XD heh heh sorry π As far as I can tell, I just have to be careful to not get TOO hot because it can scorch or bubble the paint but I don’t think an average hairdryer will be as much of a risk ^_^
When I was trying to paint the inside of glass christmas ornaments, I found that the Hair dryer on Cool with the occassional shot of Warm. The worst problem with drying time was the air circulation inside the ornament. I would turn the dryer backwards so that the air was sucked out periodically. Careful with a heat gun, it can cause the paint or medium to bubble really quickly.
Hope that helps and post pics when you’re done! π
