hi melody! i have a fast question for you.. i think i know the answer but i figured i’d ask just in case.. i recently got a male pegasus and under his wings where they meet the is either a number 1 or a letter z scribed into the gypsum. i remember from a bit ago that the flions had numbers too and that the number represents the mold number that the piece came from.

here you go! what do ya think? also, has anyone else found numbers under the wings on your peggies?[/img]August 6, 2007 at 10:24 pm #606495I’ll have to check mine when I get home.
August 6, 2007 at 10:37 pm #606496No number on mine, but there in the same spot as your number I have a round circle that looks like a plug.

The number is written on a plug of wax or clay on the master, (the rest of the master is epoxy resin) The larger eyed pieces have the mold number written this way in the eye socket, so the eyes hide it. Pieces without enough eye socket space may have a number hidden somewhere else. Not all the pieces have a number, it is used when there are lots of one type of mold being used at the same time. If a casting comes out that has a problem of some kind, they can tell which mold it came out of.
August 6, 2007 at 11:17 pm #606499Makes me wonder what this is on my male pegasus.
You can see the ring of what appears to be a plug just above the metal key sitting on his back. (I had to give my camera something to focus on.) It’s in the same location as the mold number on tfsculptures’ pegasus.
August 6, 2007 at 11:20 pm #606500I wonder if the plug that is supposed to be in the mold fell off at some point leaving that???
August 7, 2007 at 12:46 am #606501No telling. Bumping up so maybe Melody will see my mystery mark.

I will try to remember to ask about it tomorrow.
