Looks like my husband is going to get a lung transplant soon. We just talked to his doctor over the phone and they said it looks like now is the time to be active on the transplant list. I had hoped it would wait until after the baby is born but thats not going to happen. We go Wednesday for the official word but from what they said today it looks like everything is a go. I don’t know if I should be happy about it or not.
July 6, 2007 at 3:41 pm #595730I hope all goes well, purplecat. All the best to you and your husband.
July 6, 2007 at 4:04 pm #595731I hope everything goes well and you both aren’t down at the same time. Definately search around and see if someone could help you just in case.
July 6, 2007 at 4:13 pm #595732I hope all goes well, too. Let us know!

July 6, 2007 at 11:04 pm #595735That’s definitely one of those “is it good news or bad news” things. I know someone who needed a liver transplant and a liver became available right away and she turned it down! She said she mentally just wasn’t ready and felt that she wouldn’t be able to handle it emotionally, etc right then. Of course, then it was several months before she matched another liver and she had some very stressful days before they found her one. But by then she was ready for it, the surgery went great and she is doing well to this day.
So if it is time I hope that everything goes well. And that he breathes better afterward!
Good luck. I’ll be thinking of you.
And a funny bone marrow transplant story to give you a chuckle: I went to a Peter, Paul and Mary concert recently (I know, I know, but I love their music) and Mary talked about her BM transplant from two years ago – she has leukemia. With BM transplants the recipient can meet and thank the donor after a year if everyone agrees. She said she and her husband talked a lot about the woman who was generous enough to donate her marrow and came up with all different stories about her. But one day Mary thought “What if she is a Republican?” So a year goes by and she gets to talk to the woman, “a lovely woman” as she said, and Mary told her about her fantasy. There is dead silence and then the woman says “But I AM a Republican!” The audience roared with laughter when Mary said she’s afraid to vote now because she won’t know for whom to vote!
July 6, 2007 at 11:56 pm #595736Good luck to you both. I hope all goes well! I will keep you both in my prayers 😀

July 7, 2007 at 1:19 am #595738Best of luck I hope everything goes well for both you, your baby and your husband. Keep us informed and don’t forget you have all us Windstoners praying for you and ready to give you all the moral support you need.
July 7, 2007 at 2:56 am #595739I am glad and also sad that this is happening now. I pray for the best outcome, but I know a transplant like this is scary.
I hope that when the call comes, everything goes well, and I am glad they are doing it while hubby is strong enough, but bummed because it can’t wait until baby arrives.
Chin up and stay healthy.
How is the pregnancy going, you are how far along now?

July 9, 2007 at 8:56 pm #595741We go Wednesday to find out what all we have to do and whatever else we need to know. I’m so stressed. My husband just called me to tell me someone he knows is in surgery now for a lung transplant. They were only on the list for 2 months. I should be happy but I’m all hormonal right now so really I’m kinda depressed. I know he needs this transplant but I’m just so scared that something will go wrong.
July 9, 2007 at 9:42 pm #595742Definately don’t get stressed. Take deep breaths and relax. Remember not good for the baby. Also if you think positive thoughts and not concentrate on your fears it will help you as well.
