Here is Diego! This is the one thatβs been giving me trouble for weeks! ;P Canβt say Iβm totally satisfied with the way he turned outβ¦
I based him on an Aplomado falcon β I found a picture of this bird and thought it was so beautiful that I had to do something with it! (this happens to me a lot)
I painted him just for meβ¦though Iβm not sure at this point how long Iβll keep him. Weβll see if I like him better after a week of not having to work on him!
He has dark brown eyes, though you canβt see the brown in these pictures very wellβ¦there is also subtle tipping to all the dark brown feathers that doesnβt show up all that well.β¦heβs kind of like chocolate covered pumpkin, huh? ^_^
Here are some detail shots:

He spent a lot of time with my labradorite griffin on my deskβ¦
Iβm SO GLAD I donβt have to paint him anymore!!! >_<

Are those dark brown eyes?July 6, 2007 at 10:50 am #595693Beautiful as always, Arlla. Iβd never even heard of those birds before, but theyβre lovely.
July 6, 2007 at 11:32 am #595694Heβs beautiful. Those dark brown eyes are kind of freaky though, especially in that last picture. Heβs looks like heβs about to attack.

July 6, 2007 at 2:20 pm #595698Thats faHe is fab with his glossy beak and claws
July 6, 2007 at 3:02 pm #595699So pretty! Most Aplomando Falcons arenβt really that orange- the photo you found was taken at sunset it looks, and itβs casting a nice amber glow on him. http://www.bafrenz.com/birds/Belize03/ApFaX01.htm
So in a way heβs your very own creation! How pretty! And he is every bit as nice as the lab griffin!
