I was always so proud because I had made it 21 years through life without a broken bone…until now.
It’s technically not BROKEN, the doctor says its fractured. But still! (that’s how I can still type)Sunday night I was in a bad almost head on collision in the intersection about 2 miles or less from my house. There is this boy I like, who I haven’t really spent time with in amonth or so. He was supposed to come visit me after I got off work at 11pm. At 10:30 I talked to him. He’s got a ton of personal and financial problems that make him look 10 years older than he is, due to stress. When I talked to him, he said he’d had a couple of drinks to relax bcause life is so stressful for him. He’s not usually a heavy drinker…and asked if I could drive the 10 or so miles to see him. Angry that he drank anyway when he knew he was supposed to see me (I even offered gas money!) I asked my manager if I could leave after my “chores” instead of waiting on him to leave for the day as well like usual. He knew I had a date so he let me go.
I rushed home at 11:09 and showered and changed, and was running out of the house again at 11:40. There are two ways out of my neighborhood to the street I needed to take(Spring Cypress)…I ALWAYS go this one way out the ‘back’ but this time I went out the front. I don’t know WHY I did.
I was cruising along at 45mph (the posted speed limit for Spring Cypress Rd) West bound. No one else really is on the road, but I see another car stopped at the light at Sp.Cyp. and Champions Forest, facing east, waiting to turn left into Gleannloch. As I’m approaching the intersection, the other car starts coming!! I honk at him to stop…and tried to swerve out of the way…but it wasn’t enough and we collided. There are fewer things more sickening than the sound of two cars crashing. Its silencing, deafining and sick. The other driver is a boy about my age, who didn’t have his glasses on, and was on his cell phone 🙄 So he ran a red light, was on his phone and wasn’t wearing his glasses. I still don’t see how he could miss my bright blue car with the lights on in a very well lit intersection. 👿
If I had gone the way I usually go, I would have had a red light too, and would have come up Champions Forest going north and turned left on Spr. Cyp, missing him all together. He’s OK physically. My precious car is TOTALED, I ended up with airbag burns, a seat belt burn a fractured wrist, sprained neck, and a knee hemotoma, which is basically a horrendiously swollen knee which is in a brace right now, turning colors and the size of a grapefruit. 🙁
I didn’t get to see my friend, broke myself and broke my baby (the car..2003 Lazer Blue Cavileer Z24)
I spent 8 hours in the hospital, rode in an ambulance…and had morphine for the first time ever, which did nothing for me except make me feel light headed and like I’d had about 6 straight shots of Vodka.Everyone at the hospital was real nice, I was sweet talking all of them and collecting names.
The first time I tried to stand, I almost passed out. My blood pressure is low any way, I hadn’t eaten or drank much. It was THE most unpleasant experience.
But once I was able to stand, they took me in a wheel chair out to my mother’s car, and a good looking male nurse picked me up and put me in the car 😉 Too bad he had a ring on his finger 😉 lolI’ve since lost track of the days and have been sleeping a lot. The good news is that I’ll be covered for the time I can’t work (pizza delivery girl), plus hospital bills, and I’m most worried about replacing my car 😥 I’ll heal (hope to be walking instead of scooting foot by Friday…hopefully) but my car is totaled 🙁 I’ll post pictures when I can see him (car) again.
I did get a call from that boy I was going to go see. He says he feels bad because he was the reason I was on the road. I don’t really blame him, but I’m glad he sees that. I told him ‘Well I was hoping me visiting you would help you relax a little, take your mind off your stress a little…but I guess not’
Also on the good side, is that my dad was outside talking to my (rich) sister on the phone…and he sticks his head in the door and asks my mom
“What are those dragons called that Linsey collects”
“Windstones”
“How do you spell it?”
😯 I can always hope she doesn’t see the prices and think twice heheeAND I might get some extra compensation money…and after my $2grand in debts are paid off…hopefully I can get a pretty Griffin by Nam 😈
I also got to see my brother who lives in Dallas. He’s been here since Monday. He’s so cool, I love him 🙂 and his son, Gage (he’s like 6 or 7) is so cute too. Unlike my sister’ kids who act like they’re scared of me, Gage came up to me un prompted, and said goodnight, gave me a kiss on the cheek and a hug ^_^ Best thing ever.
Sorry this is so long!!
June 13, 2007 at 8:28 am #491478June 13, 2007 at 9:01 am #588913Holy cow. I have never been in an accident and I hope I never do. I am so glad you arre ok. I hope the other driver had insurance. What a total bummer and how scary. 😮 Once again… I am so glad you are ok. A car can be replaced, but you cannot. I do hope you get some Windstones out of it 😛 That would be sweet… dont think I would want to go through what you did to get one, though.
June 13, 2007 at 11:17 am #588914Fractures arn’t bad. But becarefull though if anyone askes you if you have broken you bones a fracture isn’t a brake an it might affect things. I was applying for an Air force interview and they asked if i had had any brakes and i thought they were the same thing and they didn’t like the fact that i had broken both my arms and leg but when i was there at the interview and i said they were fractures it was all a different matter 😀
Glad your ok 8)June 13, 2007 at 11:20 am #588915Omigosh! That’s terrible! I hope you heal up all right. Ski’s right, who cares about the car! Take good care of yourself.

He was obviously at fault. I won’t ask for the nitty gritty- you were obviously in a lot of pain and shock after the fact! Just glad you’re okay and I hope everything heals and is resolved smoothly. 🙂

My art: featherdust.comJune 13, 2007 at 3:26 pm #588917I’m so glad you’re OK! I hope your recovery is as quick and painless as possibly and that you end up getting a car to replace your totaled one. And a new Windstone wouldn’t be bad either.
June 13, 2007 at 3:37 pm #588918OMG, I’m so glad you’re doing ok! It’s sounds like it could have been much worse. And you are right – it’s a horrible sound of metal and glass crunching together. Sorry about your car – hope you get another one without too much of a hassle. I hope the other driver learns a lesson about paying attention to his driving. Years ago my aunt and uncle were killed when a teenage driver leaned over to get something that fell off the front seat and hit their motorcycle head on. A few seconds distraction and he killed two people and orphaned their 3 kids (20, 14 and 13) and destroyed his own life. We’ve heard that he was on a suicide watch for a long time and then developed a drug/alcohol problem, probably from the guilt. So I hope he learned a valuable lesson.
June 13, 2007 at 3:39 pm #588919Wow, that’s very scary. I’m glad that you’re relatively OK and hope that you get lots of compensation money from the insurance company. 🙂
June 13, 2007 at 4:41 pm #588920Very glad that you are alive and (somewhat) well. Auto accidents are nasty things. You should be totaly covered under his (the guy that ran the light) insurance….Just hope that he has descent coverage. If he doesn’t, your insurance should pick up the slack.
Oy….I go on about the particualrs and almost no sympathy…..I’m really bad about that, I’m sorry. I really hope that you can recover your car, and that you at least get some Windstones out of the deal ;). Take care of yourself, and focus on healing!
Much love and warm fuzzies!
June 13, 2007 at 4:51 pm #588921Boy, I haven’t been in a bad accident like that and I hope I never will. Glad your ok and that you got to see some eye candy. hehe. I do hope you get something good/positive out of the deal.
June 13, 2007 at 5:22 pm #588922Wow, Wolfen! I’m glad you’re okay (alive, breathing, able to use the computer :)). I’ve been in a couple accidents, but not anything where I had to be taken in an ambulance to the hospital.
It’s hard to lose a car that you’ve become attached to, but it would be worse to lose you. So think about that instead, and just be thankful (like I know you are) that you survived it.
June 13, 2007 at 5:29 pm #588923I am so glad that you will be alright! I hope that everything will be ok! If the guy has insurace, you should be able to get another car through his insurance…I think. I have never had to do it, but I had a friend who crashed by the fault of another driver, and she was able to get a car through the other driver’s insurance. Feel better! I hope your not in pain right now!
June 13, 2007 at 5:42 pm #588924Glad to hear you are healing well and it wasn’t any worse. I hope you get your car replaced and a few get well Windstones would speed you recovery I’m sure! 😀
June 13, 2007 at 6:25 pm #588925i’m glad it wasnt any worse. i hope you heal quickly and are pampered by family and friends in the mean time. 😀
