Base coated her in white, then drybrushed the pearl blue over her body, this allowed a bit of the white to show through a bit, giving her coat a more realistic look.
The dappling as it gets laid down. This is very slow going. First you make a few spots in white, I am then putting a pearl champagne color over the top, then you need to stiple the blue of her coat around the edges of the spots and in between them, this blends them in and helps them look more natural.
In the picture you can see the top spots are currently in the first step of laying it out in white, under those you can see the ones laid down and finished out a bit so you guys could see what it looks like when the effect is done.
I still have a lot to do, an then the legs need to be darker, and I plan to give her a blaze down her nose, and her mane and tail are going to be champagne.
This one will probably take me a few days.
Comments or suggestions are welcome.
More WIP pics will be forthcoming.

What size/type of brushes are you using to do the stimpling & edging of those dapples?

Not sure, it’s an old old brush that is a bit worse for wear, the bristles stick out everywhere, which is why it works good for this. It says CP85 on the handle.
But like I said, it’s frayed.

June 4, 2007 at 2:52 am #584196the dapple right now reminds me of a mlp. but, it sounds like it will turn out cool with your plans. what color eyes does it have?
June 4, 2007 at 3:21 am #584197The eyes looks green to me. She’s looking good, Kyrin. I’ll like to see her when she’s finished.
June 10, 2007 at 3:42 am #584198This is how she looks so far, she has almost all her dapples, still need to do the left side. Legs, mane and tail are still unpainted.
Comments welcome, I picked up some really neat blue antiquing, so I might be putting that on her a bit later.

Why not blue? I didn’t want her to be standard horse colors.
