I was sitting in my sunroom finnishing the White Opal PYO, getting the opal set in her tail when I here a THUD from outside(there is another big room directly in front of the sun room, and at the end is the front door. the front door is a heavy one and was closed)
there was no door nock and no one rang the door bell, I looks at my mom and asked if some one was at the door. then we saw some one walk past the living room window at witch i started throwing a fit.I was expecting Boskydragon’s PYO to come in and that was the UPS guy who obviusly DROPPED the box in front of my door because both mum and I heard it all they way from at the back of the sunroom.
Both of us rushed to the door and he is lucky mom reached the door before i did. She sternly stared him down and gruffly siad to him before he could start his truck,” I HOPE that it is not broken! this is fragile!!”
I was ready to walk out there and have a nice talk with him about dropping ANY of my boxes.thankfully Windstone takes such care in packing thier things that the little PYO is safe and un harmed…
but if that same driver drops off a box again I WiLL be having a talk with him.D:<

May 29, 2007 at 10:23 pm #582315Good thing it didn’t arrive broken and you received it from Windstone. I don’t think the UPS man plops my boxes down.
May 29, 2007 at 10:24 pm #582316AnonymousMy brother worked for UPS in a warehouse. They are told to ignore stickers and just throw the boxes on the conveyor belt. They need to keep things moving.
Trust me, your box was handled much worse before it was dropped on your doorstep.

that is not very comforting. π―
mymy, double boxing really saves these wonderfull peices then.May 29, 2007 at 10:32 pm #582318yeah….boxes are routinely thrown….rolled….dropped…bounced….and many other things….
one reason why I ship fedex….they aren’t allowed to throw or drop boxes…

but they still do! lol! from what i’ve seen in my area anyway! we stopped shipping with them where i work, due to they routinely SLAMMED down boxes of LIVE fish UPSIDE DOWN ( when the box was labeled “fragile live fish-this end up”) right in from of us, just to get us upset, then they would laugh!!! maybe that’s just our guys out here though, every person and location is different…..

wow….I would have called a supervisor on that one…
I have an account with them…..but either way….here if they get caught doing that…they get fired…

since nothing was broken, i won’t…but i will talk personaly with the driver if i see him again because it will save him the embarasment of dealing with his superiors(assuming they would even DO something about such a report) and also he will remember my house and the dropping of the box. My mom is a very intimidationg person and she staired him down. he heard her because he answered in a light voice,”ok….” and he did not drive off right away.I like dealing with fedex, and when i used them to ship mine the nice guy stamped fragile all over the box….and they also do not charge for insurance. All you have to do is write down the cost of the object and if anything happens they will automaticly reimerse you.
May 29, 2007 at 11:17 pm #582322Note to self: never use UPS @_@

yup, we squealed on them to the superiors, don’t you worry! π they didn’t do THAT anymore after that, but we still switched to a private delivery company to be sure the fishies were handled well. π
May 30, 2007 at 12:43 am #582324Hey here’s one back on UPS for you—
I live in a very small rural area where we are on a first name basis with most folks, including the UPS driver. Shortly after I moved here, ~3yrs ago, I ordered crickets for my Bearded Dragons, as usual. It is a 70 mile drive from the UPS station to my house and I guess the guy was not too careful with the box. Soon he discovered he had about 500 crickets jumping around in his van!
He’s been very careful with all of my boxes ever since! πMay 30, 2007 at 12:48 am #582325I’ve said it before, ANY carrier can have horror stories. Whatever the company’s policy may be, if you’re unlucky enough to have a delivery person in your area that’s not gentle with things, stuff will still go wrong. There’s no one service that you can be sure of. Me, the USPS has been the best in my area for shipping out, but is AWFUL to get stuff shipped in to me by. (I ship out at the 05 post office, but I get my mail at the 02 post office, where the staff are the slowest and laziest postal workers I’ve ever seen!) I like getting stuff by UPS, the UPS guy here seems very nice, and nothing I’ve gotten through them here has been broken.
