He’s quite a bit different than the other, but the differences are hard to catch without having them side by side. I hope the person who commissioned him will be happy.

May 20, 2007 at 7:11 pm #579029He’s so pretty. I do find him rather similar to WIndstone’s black gold again, but I’m sure it’s different in real life.
May 20, 2007 at 7:18 pm #579030He is pretty and he’s all mine! I can’t wait! He will go great with my Ruby and Black Gold dragons.
May 20, 2007 at 7:19 pm #579031Congrats, daveyboy! And welcome to the forum, too. Hope we see you around more often. 😀

I wondered if you were on the forum. 🙂
I also added a Swarovski crystal to his tail, the pics don’t really show it here though.
I sent you an email.

Thankfully John agrees that these are off enough to post, etc. I deliberately use a lot less gold to keep it that way.
He does look like he would match them pretty well.
You should see the PYO next to that repaint I did, oh man do they look good together.

May 20, 2007 at 7:45 pm #579034::Drools:: red and black are my favourite colors and the gold is a perfect touch! He looks very regal.

I think it’s a combo of the coloration being similiar and the name that trows people off. “Black Gold” makes sense for the production pieces because they are black, and shades of gold (shaded darker with reds). Yours is black and red… with just a tiny bit of gold. Something like “Black Rouge” or “Midnight Red” …something would make a lot more sense and perhaps be a little less likely for people to point and say ‘that looks like black gold’.

I agree. Plus when I see the name Red Gold I expect the dragon to be mostly red, not black.
