Hi Melody, i was just wondering, because making windstones is like no other Dragons i have come accross (Rather than making loads of new ones you make them in different colours) How do you manage to keep the moulds of the Dragons so ‘fresh’ i guess.
Are they designed to last over years and years?From experience i know that other companies can only get so many Dragons out of a mould before it starts to break down but then they are nothing like windstones.
It i find it really interesting that you are still casting mothers that are just as beautiful as they were to begin with when windstones started!

😀I’m not about to try and answer the question, but I’m going to guess that Windstone uses some kind of latex of rubber mold so they last longer. That just comes from working with ceramics. Our mold gradually break down and loose their detail because they are made of an absorbant material…I’m just guessing though.

😀Sorry!I must of missed this question when you first asked it. These things get buried so quickly!
The individual rubber molds last for many many castings, until they rip, or shrink to where the eyes don’t fit anymore, then we throw them out. We are constantly (everyday) casting new molds to replace the old ones. The molds are all cast onto the same original “master” sculptures. The masters are cast in epoxy resin, so they are very tough and should last almost forever.
