Does anyone know how to get off mold?
I bought a outdoor/indoor statue a while about 3 years ago and I didn’t want to display it because I had a step daughter at the time and I didn’t want it to get broken and I couldn’t display it outside because I was living in a apartment. Needless to say, I put it in storage and it was flooded. I want to restore it back because it is a nice statue. I haven’t seen the guy that I bought it from either so I can’t buy another one. But it cost me $80.

If so, then mix some clorox (or other bleach) with some good warm water. A bit on the stronger side versus weaker is better. I think I had a one part clorox to 2 or 3 parts water. Take a cloth and rub it down or, if it has little nooks and crannies, use a brush, like a tooth brush or something. We use it on the birdbath when it gets icky every so often and needs a good scrubbing. Works like a charm 🙂
I just used it on my wall yesterday. Stupid upstairs neighbors left their AC unit in all winter and it leaked down my wall last summer. Seems to have cleared up the wall just fine, since it was pretty much surface mold. Going to have to repaper though. Idiots…. 👿
May 9, 2007 at 5:38 pm #572640Well I am not sure what it is made of. When I bought it they told me it was for outdoors. I will try you method on a small spot and see if it works.
Oh and we also had a problem with a Window AC unit so I will try that on the wall as well.
Thanks. 😀And at least it wasn’t anything worse for you. It could of cost more than paper. 😀
May 9, 2007 at 5:43 pm #572641Yeah. If my parents end up buying this place this year, the neighbors are getting kicked out and it will be one family again. That wall needs to be sheetrocked anyways. Only one wall in my room was done a while back. The rest are still slatboard and those old square nails (my house is old… like 200+ years old).

May 9, 2007 at 6:51 pm #572643I currently have Mold problems involving my Carpet!! SIGH!! So I definitly hope yours is far easier to fix than mine!! Though the walls may be similar and have it hiding on the backside of the Drywall/in the drywall. Hate not being able to fix things on my own.
May 9, 2007 at 7:38 pm #572644ive seen some sort of mold spray at target that kills off mold too. you might want to look into it for your carpet and walls.
May 9, 2007 at 7:45 pm #572645Thanks Gryphon, I was looking for something in Walmart but didn’t truly know if it existed. I’ld try Target but I don’t think there’s one to be found in Canada. Also I’m not sure if the mold killer would work on foam backed/insulated carpet especially since it’s that supper nasty Black Mold stuff. But if I could find something I’ld be bloody willing to try it!!!
May 9, 2007 at 9:31 pm #572646Ooo Black Mold Bad!!! It can cause health problems!! A friend of mine kept getting sick and always felt crappy and found out when her ex Boyfriend punched a hole in the drywall (he was a world class jerk) that it was covered in black mold!
Bleach and water (1:3) works well on things like that and if the carpet is colored, try the color safe bleaches
May 9, 2007 at 10:51 pm #572647Tell me about the crap, I have a plastic tub over the Mold at the moment, because I don’t want the Cat sniffing directly at it (Ohh the Vet bills) and I’m 5 months pregnant so I am hoping the Land lady gets this taken care of by the end of today!!

If she doesn’t, call the rental board and complain! They should not let that go!!!!
May 10, 2007 at 12:46 am #572649try vinegar and water…
that works pretty well….but can be corrosive on certain materials…
bleach can totally discolor stuff….
and lemon juice works pretty well too….
May 10, 2007 at 12:51 am #572650Yuck! My cousin’s soon to be ex’s house (since she’s going through a nasty divorce – he’s been seeing someone else, and totally turned Mr. Hyde on his family – half his blood relatives are unhappy with what he has done) is riddled with it. Her son won’t even touch the doors on the third floor. The door to one room up there is totally black from it (and much of that floor is becoming the same color). He never spent most of what he was supposed to in fixing up the house and he never goes there. No one is sure where that money went to. The house just got assessed for at least $160K too (what was the realitor thinking!) 😯 The house honestly just needs to be bulldozed at this point. It’s not healthy to step foot in. The mold is throughout the walls, the floors, the air ducts, and the third floor has large sections of black. The basement isn’t good either.
My cousin lives with her mom at the moment, so she is out of that living situation. Good thing she’s been documenting things from the start!
May 10, 2007 at 1:08 am #572651Whenever you can, get rid of carpet. It doesn’t just get mold problems, it’s a dust/germ feasting ground.
As for the mold in the walls/doors, you’d have to find the root problem, otherwise, it’ll come back. And yes, it can cause major health problems!
