Why do those wierd hatching dragons come up in Ebay if you do “Windstone” as a search?
I don’t see Windstone anywhere in the auction.

Highlight right under the last sentence in their description to see the hidden keywords…

Oh yeah – it’s called keyword spamming and it’s against eBay’s rules:

              Cool, thanks!
I wonder why it’s against the rules.
              I know it’s annoying…

                I agree – totally annoying!

                From eBay:

Keyword spamming results in a poor shopping and finding experience for buyers since keyword spamming returns listings in which the buyer may have no interest. Keyword spamming also results in an unlevel playing field for sellers who do not keyword spam and may receive fewer potential buyers.

I was wondering about those hatching dragons myself, I’ve never seen that hidden keyword stuff before. Clever, sure, but completely understandable why ebay wouldn’t allow it. Good to know!

Just report them. If lots of people do it, then the listing will probably get pulled. I didnt know about the hidden words! That is pretty sneaky!!

It’s the wonders of html. You can really come up with nice auction formats if you don’t overdo it. I’m sure many are familiar with it, but for those who aren’t and want to check it out, I use(d) http://www.draac.com/ It has easy to follow instructions – perfect for me, ’cause I’m simple. 😆

I think eBay came up with the anti-keyword thing to combat the sellers of designer goods, electronics, etc. Sooo many people would have titles like, “Coach Bag not Chanel Vuitton Dooney”, etc. You would have to muddle through thousands of listings to find what you wanted. It’s bad enough I have to see Rabbit Hash Country Store, The Bell Jar and 3FT PINE TREE and those are legit. lol

I don’t think the fake tree one is legit…I can’t find anything on google that links the word Windstone with any brand of X-mas tree….the seller has conveniently covered all markings on the box in the picture, and when I asked for more pictures, has not replied….

Anyway, I wrote the seller of the dragon eggs:

Please remove the hidden text from your auctions. It is agains ebay rules and regulations to use such underhanded methods of advertisement. If it is not removed within 24 hours you will be reported to ebay. Please see the attached link for further information. http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/keyword-spam.html

When you see Windstone fakes/ copies/ or things that are potential infringements of our stuff on Ebay, please leave the auctions alone, and let us know about it.We need to purchase one ourselves to get on with legal action against them. The auctions often get pulled before we can get the evidence we need! So don’t scare that kind off.
