Hello Melody! I have a question. I recently got a blue eyed green mother dragon on ebay, and I was wondering if she was real or a rather well done fake. Her color goes from a dark blue green to an olive green and she has bright blue eyes. The blue eyes are actully one of the things that I’m questioning. They are not a color that I have seen on a Windstone before and the pupils are rather large. She also seems a bit lighter than the other mother dragons that I have.
Here’s a couple pictures: (I hope this works)
Please let me know what you think.
Thank you!

March 9, 2007 at 3:25 am #549727Ugh. Yeah! I’ve been cleaning her for awhile now, and I’m still not done.
March 9, 2007 at 3:54 am #549728I’ve read and heard that there might have been a few blue-eyed old green dragons that escaped the factory…
You should take a picture of the bottom too, even though there won’t be a felt. Sometimes they can tell by the bottom of the cast.
March 9, 2007 at 3:55 am #549729She’s actually really pretty. I like her dark green coloring.
March 9, 2007 at 4:41 am #549730I wish I could take a picture of the bottom. Unfortunately, the previous owner glued some green felt to the bottom, and I think I might do more harm than good removing it.
She is very nice looking. Her paint job is of Windstone quality. It’s just her eyes which bulge and have large pupils and her weight that throw me off. I strongly believe that she is real, just old, but I wanted to make sure.

Thank you!OH my gosh! That might be real!
There were fakes that looked like that too, though…can you post a pic of the bottom?
I know some Green dragons went out with blue eyes by accident. I’ve been waiting for one to show up on ebay! -But there were fakes also, that looked very much like ours and had blue eyes. They could be told by the different bottom, and the lack of antique.
I think yours is real.
It would probably have a Windstone stamp on it, though not always..Whenever an employee made one for themselves, they would almost always put blue eyes in the green dragons. Those self-customised ones may not of been stamped, but may have an “M” with a circle which meant I ok’ed the dragon to leave the factory.March 9, 2007 at 5:06 am #549732Skylover wrote:I wish I could take a picture of the bottom. She seems too light, in weight?? That is a give away… The fakes were very light.
Can you show me a pic of the bottom anyway? The edge of the bottom is distinctive in the fakes , they are rounded, as I recall..and messy looking.
Do you know the previous owner put the felt on? Or did you just get it that way? The fakes may of had fuzzy velvet-like stuff on the bottom.
The paint job looks real. But the eyes look too blue, and the lack of gold on the nose bump is odd. If a painter of ours painted one for themselves they wouldn’t of forgotten that! She also doesn’t look antiqued…. hmmm
Can you tap on the eyes with something hard and see if they are glass or not? I know some folks are expert at replacing the eyes in Windstones, she might be real, with retro-fitted eyes.
The jewels are the wrong color too, which means she isn’t one of the accidental ones, but she still might be one of the customised ones that an employee made.March 9, 2007 at 5:13 am #549733Hmm, maybe she is a fake.
Her bottom is covered with a green felt like substance. I’ve peeled part of it off and from what I can tell, the bottom is painted black.
Like I said the eyes are just throwing me off. They don’t look right. They bulge, are a very bright blue like no color I have seen before on a Windstone, and no they don’t appear to be glass.
Bummer. She is impressively painted and detailed for a fake though. She even has jewels like a Windstone, but come to think of it they are a much lighter purple than the ones on regular greens.

Do you have a male dragon? Is she much lighter than him? They should be about the same weight.March 9, 2007 at 5:36 am #549735I’m not holding out much hope at this point. I have several male and female dragons of various colors. I noticed that she seemed light when I first picked her up, so I went and held one of the other mother dragons that I have. There is definately a difference in weight. She is probably a pound or two lighter than my other mother dragons.

Fake. But an unusually good one.. had me going!
March 9, 2007 at 5:52 am #549737Yep. Fooled me too. I never thought anyone would bother to take the time to make a fake so well. It looked very real from the pictures on the auction, but I questioned it the moment I picked it up. It was just too light and the eyes weren’t right. I’m glad I asked. I’m out a bit of money, but no one else will be. I don’t know what I’m going to do with it, but I’ll make sure it isn’t resold.

Just love her for what she is, a dragon, after all.
