This is based on something someone said to me the other day, and it’s been going around in my head ever since–if I were to recommend three fantasy books that you should definitely read this year, what would they be? So I’ve been thinking about it, and in conclusion I’ve made up this list. Order doesn’t mean anything.
1.) Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke
2.) Howl’s Moving Castle by Dianna Wynne Jones
3.) Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman*So, now that I’ve shared my list, what are yours? It doesn’t have to be fantasy if that’s not your style, of course.
*I can barely choose between Neverwhere and Stardust, but I’m going with the former because of a personal bias toward steampunky themes.

"He that breaks a thing to find out what it is has left the path of wisdom."
-J R R TolkienFebruary 7, 2007 at 7:44 am #536662Now I want to read that! So far I’ve only seen the movie and I liked it.
February 7, 2007 at 2:41 pm #536663Whaddaya mean, only 3? Ok, ok, I’m a somewhat avid reader 😀
In the books I haven’t read:
Aerie by M. Lackey
the latest by Robin Hobb, Forest Mage (it’s on my to-read pile now)
the lastest installment of the Troy Game by Sara Douglass, Druid’s something. That’s just off top. The lastest Anita Blake is coming out this summer I think (hope there’s more POLICE action in this one)… Many more will come up!
Then there’s the re-reads…
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I host the feedback lists, which are maintained by drag0nfeathers.

Aerie was good….but the ending seemed rushed…
for me…
Rebel Fay by Barb Hendee
Kim Harrison’s new one when it comes out
and Terry Goodkind’s latest (last of Sword of Truth series) when it comes outFebruary 7, 2007 at 4:56 pm #536665frozendragon wrote:(last of Sword of Truth series) when it comes out
LAST?!?!?!?! Oh dammit….I’m going to miss Richard……at least he finished/will finish his series…Unlike Jordan who is quite unlikely to finish TWOT…..Heh heh heh…I said Twot….
February 7, 2007 at 5:14 pm #536666Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (sniff, sniff)
For a Few Demon’s More (the new Kim Harrison)
The next Anita Blake
The next Sookie Stackhousethose are the 4 I’m really looking forward to.
Ones I’ve read:
Fledgling by Octavia Butler
The entire Vampire Earth series by E.E.Knight (plus his dragon books – really good)
J.R. Ward’s series – I think it is the Black BrotherhoodFebruary 7, 2007 at 7:36 pm #536667Nirvanacat13 wrote:Unlike Jordan who is quite unlikely to finish TWOT…..Heh heh heh…I said Twot….[/color]
