Here was the original plan I had (based off the Osprey):

http://www.unchartedart.com/junk/Picture054.jpgHe’s not complete; I think I’ll add a few faint spot to his hindquarters and a little more shiney to the dark spots on his front legs… maybe some on his wings too. I had so much fun. 😀

February 4, 2007 at 4:34 pm #535718Excellent airbrush work! What airbrush do you use?
February 4, 2007 at 5:03 pm #535719That’s some pretty precise and elaborate detailing for airbrush work. Very nice job, it’s so smooth and realistic-looking!
February 4, 2007 at 5:32 pm #535720Oh my! He is gorgeous! Will he be for sale?? *Wants*
February 4, 2007 at 7:41 pm #535721That is a very nice griffin. In the last 2 photos it looks like a real griffin.
February 4, 2007 at 7:58 pm #535722Oh my goodness! I can’t stop staring at him! He’s so beautiful! He really does to look ready to fly away. Wow!

While hiding somewhere in my head I'm on the lookout for white oriental dragons! Please let me know if you know of any available. Thank you!
February 4, 2007 at 11:18 pm #535724That is a superfine job! It looks very realistic.

-J R R TolkienFebruary 5, 2007 at 12:11 am #535726That’s pretty awesome. I think once I get better at airbrushing, I may try and airbrush a PYO. Maybe… I mean if I totally screw it up, I can always paint over it by hand, after all.

The majority of all that shiney around his face is just the black paint.

I have an Iwata Eclipse BCS; they’re not really meant for fine detail, but I managed to elude problems.

February 5, 2007 at 1:52 am #535729I’m glad you had fun. I remember seeing your paint plan way back when and feeling excitement to see the finished product. What a wait but the finished piece is pretty! I really like his head and I’m rather fond of the yellow eye choice.
So, are you addicted to painting them yet? -
